No Robin Hood But I Did See Frair Tuck Slice His Drive Into The Creek! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 27, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Sherwood Forest DGC is a little 9 hole pitch and putt located in the Hooker Oak Recreation Complex. The course has it's own little area at one end of the large complex. There is an older course sign and map. It is readily apparent that this little course gets a lot of play. I say it all the time: There are a lot more very casual disc golfers who want to play a course like this than the better, more serious players who wouldn't waste their time here.

Hole distances range from 95' to # 9's 250. The tee pads are ultra small concrete ones. Better players won't need any run-up on these short holes but I would think beginners would like a longer pad. Not everyone is blessed with my natural ability to toss discs great distances. The baskets are dark blue PGA Mach V's. The tee signs are these simple little round concrete cylinders with the hole # inside. I think they are indestructible although they have the hole #, but no distance listed.

Some of the holes are basically open but # 3 is buried in and behind some trees near the creek. # 5 and # 6's basket are both hidden behind some bushes.

And # 8 is a straight 130' shot but there are these Mandos, which look like arrows, which you have to throw between. They're all imbedded in the ground at angles like they were shot from Robin Hood's mighty bow.

Cons:

Short distances are fine for this course but serious players probably aren't interested.

Course is old.

The equipment is a little bit run down/old and dreary.

Other Thoughts:

As usual, I am a major advocate for courses like this. Beginners, children, seniors and less skilled players deserve a course where they can achieve some success without being overwhelmed by long holes or losing their discs. Better players will play here occasionally, just working on their short game os possibly chasing Aces. This is a great course to rack up some Aces. Also, a great 20 minute course for the course bagger!
