[MVP] MVP Axis

I've also never come across a truly freak MVP disc in terms of flight. I'd say this is pretty good consistency, especially considering each disc is molded twice essentially.

Eh, some of those big dome FR Vectors were almost unrecognizable compared to the straighter current runs and Eclipses. I did purchase one of those early on and it was a big disappointment. Since the 2nd run of Vectors and maybe 3rd (?) run of Ions though, things seem to have been smoothed out.

We're still looking at a real small sample size though. I don't recall seeing anyone complaining about any of the old "classic" runs of CE and Candy Pro Eagles, FBs, TBs, TLs, Valks, etc. It would seem Innova had a nice run there for a while with early premium plastics until they started producing so many discs they didn't have the desire/time/ability to do better QC.

Good point about older innova stuff, but now all they see is dollar signs. I like mvps approach build a quality product and let the dollar signs follow. Hate to do it, but innova is like windows fat and lazy, MVP and some of the other new guys are like apple, hungry and focused on a quality product. Today it seems that quality trumps all. Not speed 14 pointless drivers and bubbly plastic.

Actually those old runs were much worse than Innova's stuff today. There were tons of discs with accidental bubbles in the plastic, dents and holes where the material did not quite fill out the mold. The first JK Pro Valks (early opaque champ) that came out after CE flew NOTHING like the CE Valks. They were making Eagles and TBs in the pearly champ that had no glide and were super overstable. All that plastic is just so romanticized now that these things have been largely forgotten.

Ha! Good to know. I've only even seen 2 or 3 CE discs in person and only own a couple candy KC Pro discs that I got off the pond guy. Chalk another one up for MVP being cool.

I picked up one that looks just like this, color and all.

The thread seems to have veered onto a discussion on MVP in general. I would agree that they have a better shot at consistency due to their 2-part mold. I'll say I didn't jump on MVP the bandwagon from the start. As such, I can't comment on how consistent they are with each mold.

I got a chance to play with said axis, and on one hole a fellow player commented on a throw saying "that was pretty to watch." I thought so too. I threw it a bit higher and it held an annhyzer line pretty well but just missed the gap in the trees. The first time around on that same hole I threw it right through the little tunnel in the trees leading to the basket for a drop-in bird.

From what I learned, it's not a touch shot disc. Lower speeds seems to fly overstable. Full power and it will hold the line. Throw high or low and it just goes on that line. It will show flaws in form but my release seemed to be pretty smooth today. I'm happy with it and I think it will stay in the bag for pinpoint accurate throws when the specific line is more important.

I'll disclose that I also have an anode. Great putter for low ceiling shots. Because of the slicker plastic, it's good if I need the disc to slide to the basket when there are too many branches in the way.

CGDS got some new Axis blanks that are a little lighter than the FRs. I grabbed a pink 177 and tested it today. It flew a lot more like a Buzzz than my other Axis and seemed to drop less late in the flight than my heavier ones. It also seemed to fly better at lower speeds. It's going into my bag next to my seasoned green FR.

Do they overlap, yes. But whether it takes over the buzzz is completely personal choice.

Is the axis as versatile? Looks like I'll be picking one up tomorrow along with an Elite-Z Predator. I love the Buzzz.. I suppose it'll be based on feel, distance, forgiveness, and versatility..

Agreed. And it's worth noting that before the Axis took the Buzzz out of my bag it was my favorite disc of all time.

Exactly this...And my newest Axis is a bit more Buzzz-like than the other ones I have, which makes me miss it even less.

Damn you guys. The Buzzz is by far my favorite disc and now I'm contemplating an axis because of you guys. My wallet gives all of you the finger. :). What Buzzz is this Axis most like?

My flat first run Axis (green) flies like a flippably seasoned, flat ESP Buzzz.

A buddy of mine stopped by today with a Z pred. The fool spray painted a strip of blaze orange on it so he could find it in snow. I almost slapped him.

Just got an Axis and I'm pretty impressed. I'm going to get a vector soon to try it as well. I hope that if I put both MVP mids in my bag, I will still need my rocs. Ive spent so much time getting the rocs I want.
