My slightly US Axis has turned to very US now, just replaced it with a fresh FR Green and it's money! Nice easy turnover that will pan out and not turn and burn on you!

Sorry, but I'm keeping it as a backup for my beat in FR Green. Once this next one beats in, though, and you're still interested then I can probably will myself to let one go. Haha.

The axis is definitely my favorite mid. Its my go to disc when playing night rounds. I only use one disc for night rounds...
I have to resurrect this thread just to give some attention to my N Axis. It has quickly become my favorite disc...It just flies so smooth and straight that it really is a beautiful thing to watch. I'm also really putting it out there far as well, nearly as long as my old 2nd FR Buzzzes (longest non-tweener line drive mid ever). They have really good HSS for having almost no LSS. When I power it I do have to give it just a touch of hyzer, but on most mid shots it's holding it's angle of release 100% true.
Not all N Axis are the same...The first two testers I got were very different from the ones I'm throwing now. My favorites are the flat dayglow 176s. I'm really liking that color of N plastic in all my MVP molds.

my n axis has resurected MVP in my bag. something about neutron is better for me than protron especially in the mids. I have a domey peoto pink and a flat orange red. the flatter one is straight on a rope no problems. the domey pink has some fade to it and is a great compliment to the flatter one. unless the wind is howling the axis is the only mid i need around. I do keep a lighter warship in there for the understable mid, but with the flatter axis i can make it turn if i want to. Neutron is the best plastic to happen to MVP yet!!

I totally agree. I gave up on on the Eclipse Axis after the snows melted in the Spring. Up to then they were fantastic for one-step line drives. Trying to keep the same power but with a firmer, normal three-step run-up on solid ground just introduced OAT. I ended up switching to the Ghost for powered up mids and TeeBirds when powering down.
A month ago I gave the Neutron Axis a try. Man, that extra HSS means I can feel more confident with my run-up and release points, making me less nervious about generating OAT, which in turn reduces the likelihood of it happening. I still use the Ghost for open field placement and for shaping lines, but if I need a bullet for a dead straight shot or need a line drive mid shot that stays true and low, the Neutron Axis has quickly and easily earned its way back into my bag.
Just wait foe the Electron plastic ... just wait for it. It will hybridize man....
The red overmolds on the FRs were originally referred to as "electron plastic"
I wouldn't be surprised if that name came back.

In some ways that was a lifetime ago. Most people don't know about their first run especially if it was called electron. It fits their theme.
Yeah, I can't believe I'm already giving history lessons on MVP...You are right though, at this point a lot of people aren't aware of their history and where they came from. MVP is definitely our "home team" in terms of DG forums. The MVP guys were just posters on DGR discussing nerdy stuff and they took what they learned and started their company. They were literally born and bred here on the internet which is one of the reasons I've always supported them so stoutly. They met me on DGR/here and I convinced them to let me test their discs and review them, and they met Zamson there as well and ended up hiring him as their disc artist/web designer. MVP is "our" disc golf company.:thmbup:

I had the pleasure of talking to Brad and Chad this morning for a future article for Rattling Chains, and they could not have been more friendly. And Discspeed, I will be in touch with you, if you don't mind, for the story as well.
As for the Axis, I have fallen way back in love with it. It can shape so many lines, and go for distance. I took it and an Anode out for a glow round last night, and didn't miss a driver too much. The Axis is so responsive to what angle you release it on, but it will also tell you if you are torquing it poorly. It is the most versatile disc in my bag, and I literally get excited each time I get to throw it. Big thanks to Um... for encouraging me to stick with it, because it took awhile for me to click with it. Now that I've figured it out, there is no going back.

Just took my axis out of the bag in favor of a nice flat mako. The axis just couldn't compete with the mako for dead straight neutralness in all conditions.
My bag is now MVP free... the vector lost out to a pig, and the ion/anode combo couldn't touch my champ/pro rhynos.
Can't say I didn't try I guess...

Have you tried a flat Neutron Axis? It is the straightest Axis I've thrown. Besides that you are comparing the MVP discs to discs that are very different. The Pig is closer to your Rhyno than it is to the Vector...It's a small diameter short overstable approach disc where the Vector is like a slightly faster Roc, which is a large diameter more versatile and longer midrange. The Rhyno is on the opposite end of the spectrum from the MVP putters in many ways. Rhynos can more or less be thrown like you would throw your driver off the tee, and a low glide overstable putter. The Ion/Anode are higher profile gliding putters, so they take more touch to work with but are also more versatile.
What you choose to throw is totally up to you, I just wanted to point out that you are not comparing apples to apples.
That's one sentence that'll cost me money, now I want another one. Weenie.
Axis is my go to, ace runnin skin saving machine. I think it's the best disc in my bag especially in wind, but with the heavy weights I can see how people are gunshy. Is the neutron easier to throw?
And I split my first Ion on a tree. So congrats to me.. if I was to replace a Medium 170 with a Neutron 170 I understand that's closer to a year of wear than a soft? Yes? (I haven't got a Neutron Ion but lots of softs)
