Kansas City Wide Open

What is with the crowd walking around on 1 while everyone was clearing and dude on 2 when Val was putting (how many times did Nate tell him to stop moving)? Judging by the bags I saw on peoples' backs, you would think they'd have some etiquette. Is this common, and I haven't noticed it or what?

Great video PT. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait for part 2!

Unknown to Nate at the time, the guy he was yelling at is one of our local Deaf Disc Golfers. I was actually waiting for Nate to yell "Are you deaf?".

Wow! I was wondering. He seemed like he was looking right at them and was out to lunch or just didn't care.

I hate to say it, but he should've known to be still then.

You are right. I am not defending the fact that he should have known better, but I found it funny when I saw the video that he was yelling. "All you have to do is stop!" hah. I was like.. "All you have to do is use sign language."

Doesn't Nate know a little ASL too?

Anybody know why Nikko got the courtesy violation, beyond the speculation of Nikko being Nikko?

One other unrealted note, I believe the reason Nikko got a courtesy violation was during a small incident where he was angry about a missed putt/shot and then someone, I believe on of the Pauls told him to chill and he was mad about that as well. That may have not been when the violation occurred, but it did happen. This would have been on hole 6, Nikko had lost the lead to McBeth at that point if I recall correctly. I was 400 ft away on the hole ahead, but we could all hear it happening. Someone who was following the lead card would have more info.

Awesome work on the videos, I think it would be fun to play with Val and Nate but I would not be able to handle Nikko. I already play with a guy who acts like that.

Nikko = The John McEnroe of dg...except I enjoyed McEnroe's tyrant's. I know that's kinda hypocritical of me but I guess, but that's my take.

I was a McEnroe fan as well. Here's how I would explain why I like one but not the other. Johnny Mac was entertaining because he bitched at the officials. Nikko's tantrums are a distraction to others and are anything but entertaining.

Perfect description imo. It was funny to watch Johnny Mac go off the handle but it is really uncomfortable to watch Nikko do what he does. Makes me wonder if some sports are tailored more for certain personalities as well. Maybe disc golf is one of those sports that it's just not funny, cool, or acceptable to be a total db cotton headed ninny muggins.

I think it's interference factor. In disc golf your competition isn't the only one happening on the course. Making a fuss can make you a distraction to others and could potentially ruin someone else's round. That kind of mental sabotage is selfish, disrespectful and unsportsmanlike. In tennis, you aren't going to interfere with anyone else's competition. If anything, I would've fed off McEnroe's anger and used it against him.

You don't think McEnroe's tantrums were a distraction to his opponents?

Not really.

The difference I see there is he's not shouting and causing a distraction while someone three holes over is releasing a disc to putt. Mac wasn't screaming at an official while his opponent had the ball in mid-air while serving.

IMO the biggest difference is that Mac was arguing that someone else was wrong....his tantrums weren't about his own shortcomings. If Nikko was yelling at officials for calling footfaults, I don't think we'd care lol

So it's better sportsmanship to blame and yell at others than to be angry because you expect yourself to perform at the highest level? Not sure I quite buy that argument.
