ethics question about found discs(lots of them)

good thread. it's different from the other 'returning/keeping' threads.

i can't see any problem with you risking your neck and then keeping these discs.

... however, if i made that trek and got a stockpile of discs, i doubt i could resist the urge to throw them back down there once i got back to the top of the cliff. i mean, who could resist that?!

good luck to you and may you not slip on your adventure.

I thought the same.

100 discs? Oh man I would have some fun for a couple of hours

I am the first one to champion the "return all found discs" point of view. But this is different. As others have said, it is a disc golf wishing well. You are "intentionally abandoning" this disc. Literally throwing it away! And in case anybody hasn't figured it out, occasionally the wishing well gets cleaned out. That's the way they work! If even some of these discs get back to someone who loves them and will use them... then you are the King of the Misfit Toys! Good luck and avoid the snakes. :D

i'd go get them and then go back up and chuck all the ****ty ones right back off

I was thinking the same thing... imagine if you came across someone in the process of driving a hundred discs off the side of a cliff....it strikes me as being pretty funny.

Even better, you could charge anyone who came along $2 a throw

Actually they're mostly beat up dx leopards with dx valks coming in a close second. But ive also found a pile of good stuff too. Ive done it twice and everyone seems to be cool with it. People see me comin back up hauling a huge bag of discs pouring sweat with my shins bleeding and dirt on my face and they just wanna know how many I found and how far down I went. So you guys are saying its rotten to pick em up but I don't have to call all the numbers right? Its not gonna change what I do, I just wanted to see what everyone thinks.

Those discs were thrown with the thrower having no intention of ever getting them back. Don't beat yourself up.
I am more worried you will get hurt carrying a bag of discs up the hill and they will close that tee pad or the course.

How skittish are the deer and woodland creatures in your area? Constantly getting bombed from 600' away. Then this guy goes down and the squirrels dont even get to keep a decent chew toy. For shame!

Sounds like u r lucky u r not a target while u r down there !

Kinda like the ball collector guy at the ball golf range driving around in the caged tractor collecting golf balls !

Hell yeah , betcha I can hit the dude in the tractor !

It's much much farther than 600'

DO IT

I would say use that 100 disc you found and do a sweet video of you just chucking One-After-Another over that same cliff....and post it, (keeping all the good discs of course)
and have the Title be "My buddy is a jerk and these are his favorite discs"

it will be AWESOME!

...or just keep them I don't care:|

sounds like you are doing a community service, good job!

where's the dude concerned about little bits of dx littering the course after tree hits? i'd say sacrificing discs like this has a tad more impact on the environment. maybe he could make a sandwich board sign and go protest at the course

Just call the numbers and taunt the owners that you have their discs. You don't even need to hike down there. Use a telescope to get the numbers.

Out of scientific curiosity, how are these discs dispersed down there? Are they generally in one general area or are they randomly scattered around?

Yeah, you're just picking up litter as far as I'm concerned.

Please videotape yourself dumping hundreds of DX Leopards and Valks on the Play It Again Sports' counter and asking for trade in credit. :D

I agree, if people are purposely throwing them over a cliff they know well they won't be getting them back. Good luck retrieving discs, hope you at least got some premium plastic discs or a perfectly beat in Destroyer would be great...

Please videotape yourself selling a hundred discs to PIAS :D

I had an idea to chuck a few old CE Discs off that ledge this summer, film it, then show it off on DGCR. Never quite got there this year. Years ago Tom B told me he goes and collects the discs down there, but I'm not sure he does that anymore.

Bumping this question, I'd like to know as well.

Lol, a troll resurrection. Dont bring him back here. Just pay your fee and quietly cross the bridge.
