[Legacy] Bandit

So I got my clubs order of a hundred bandits in and I noticed weights from 160-175.

Purples 160-164
Oranges 165-168
Whites 171-175
Blues 173-175
Black 174-175
Reds 173-175
Yellows 174-175

Blues were the most understable that I tested.

If anyone is looking to pick any up let me know.

I got out and tested a couple yesterday. 175g Red and 173g White. I grabbed Red because it looked like it had a higher parting line. The disc has some nice aspects to its flight and I mostly agree with the -2 turn, 1 fade. It is a hyzer flip machine and gets up to speed really quickly. I threw some high powered turnovers that flipped up and held the bank all the way out. It can't really handle a headwind, so it will excel in technical situations or tail winds. When hit on a slight hyzer in a tail wind, it flipped up and still faded out. I threw it in a crosswind and got a HUGE distance flip that went as far as my speed 12 stuff. It is also a fantastic roller with the rounded nose. To me it is basically a faster(and at times more under-stable) Patriot.

zj, have you thrown a Fury? If so, how is the Bandit in comparison? The manufacturer numbers are similar.

Bandit is faster. Lat64 speed numbers are not comparable to Innova or Legacy. The Fury and Escape are more in line with speed 7/8 models in my mind.

The closest disc to the Bandit is a seasoned Valkyrie.

Thanks, this definitely sounds like something I'll be trying, then.

first thoughts

Just want to chime in on my first thoughts after throwing this disc.

I have a 173 white. I threw it next to a star Valk and an Icon Patriot for comparison.

It was more flippy than the valk for sure, and noticeably faster than the patriot.

The first few throws (RHBH) flipped up from a slight hyzer and finished right. I was getting between 340 and 360 on those shots with not a whole lot of height.

But where this disc really impressed me was when I threw with lots of height on a steep Anhyzer angle. It flew very fast in a huge ark and finished flat. These shots were getting about 375 on a pure anny without any fade back.

It works the kinds of lines that I throw with the patriot at 80-90% power, but I can dial down the power to 60-70%

I picked up a 174 blue one and threw it a handful of times this weekend. At about 350' this thing was very flippy. Requires height, still finishes right. I would compare it to a worn star valk, and definitely less stable than the escape I have thrown. Like nrihan said, my thoughts after becoming familiar with it were "they make one more flippy than this?"

Great for hyzer flips and shot shaping, but not the controllable glide I was hoping for. Perhaps not quite enough disc for my power level or perhaps I got a very understable one. That being said, this is a great out of the box roller.

Yeah blue and purple had the lowest parting line(making them less stable). I lined up all the colors and Red was considerably higher(more stable) than every other color. White, yellow, and black looked to be next. I purchased a Red and White and the Red had more stability as expected.

The Bandit is most definitely going to be best used a hyzer flip control driver. If you throw it with any sort of anhyzer release it will turn and turn and turn. It also isn't going to be a great disc for windy days. I had some great success this weekend using it on technical hyzer flip lines. It honestly reminds me of a seasoned Volt. If you have good control of nose and wrist angles, the Bandit will work miracles.

I'm trying to find something familiar to compare it to. I really think the Bandit is what I've been waiting for. I used to throw TD2's, then I switched to Rivers, right now I don't have any understable discs. From how you've described it I really want one.

Can you compare it to a Tern at all?

Also, thanks for taking the time to give reviews and feedback on this disc!

It is slower than the TD2 and Tern but the flight isn't far off. It has a bit more stability but you can make it flip easy, or well I can. I normally throw a lot of speed 7-9 stuff so this size rim is perfect for me. I am using it like a seasoned QOLF or stock QOLS. Throwing controlled flips or turnovers that I can trust to ride all the way out. It rides a tailwind perfectly. For the most part all these first run Bandits are flat. I think this disc would do well with some more dome next time around for the added glide.
