2014 United States Disc Golf Championship

Will gave one of the best victory speeches you could ask for. He is a class act. After the rough season he has had, he really needed this one. Hopefully this is just the start of a hot streak for him.

I thought you would post some asinine BS such as this. Junior staff is laughable coming from a videographer. The bottom of the totem pole. PDGA Brass huh? you are always really good at name dropping so why don't you post exactly who you spoke to about your first hand knowledge of the incident?

I will tell DGCR and anyone else reading this that your information is dead wrong.

The truth of the matter was that neither marshal made a call there and as we were deliberating on the call Paul McBeth decided that he would throw his shot without moving the chair which took us out of the picture. The PDGA brass was on site as Paul was releasing his shot and his initial assessment of the situation was that it was best that Paul did not move the chair. So for anyone to say that anyone got the call wrong is plain misinformation. After the round as I was discussing the situation with the "PDGA Brass" we did identify the rule and the chair was able to be removed but the plain and simple fact is the Marshall staff which I was a part of and the "PDGA Brass" which I worked with ALL weekend all agreed that more time was needed to come to a proper ruling.

JT you ego is absolutely ridiculous and for you to get on here and make the ridiculous posts on this matter are shameful. You are doing Innova, the USDGC's and the PDGA a total disservice and I certainly will not stand aside and let you talk like you are the authority when you have no idea what you are talking about. I have been running tournaments and volunteering for the USDGC's longer than you have been in game. My friends are the ones that make the USDGC's what it is from the top to the bottom. You little buddy are a joke.

"Well on DGCR they say, that JTacoma03's giant ego shrunk 3 sizes that day."

Yeah, it's because they ignore basic statistics and make decisions that actually hurt their team...
They probably included in the stats when the kicker got a free practice kick which happens often. That is stupid when they call the TO too late to stop the play, it's the best warmup possible.

How far is it to the edge of the front fairway, and then from there to just over the hay bales on 17?

In other words, if you're laying up on that hole, what is required.

Here are the numbers for 9 seasons worth of field goals (from the book "Scorecasting"):

Code:
Time left on the clock All kicks	Iced	Not Iced
1:59-1:01 76.2%	74.2%	77.6%
1:00-0:31 75.5%	74.3%	74.6%
0:30-0:16 76.5%	76.0%	76.9%
0:15-0:00 76.4%	77.5%	75.4%

I'd love to see it if you have data separating out the kickers who actually got the practice kick off or not, but I very much doubt you're going to find anything that shows it's even close to an effective use of a timeout.

when he made that putt on 14 and ran to the tee of 15 on Saturday the emotion was pouring out of him. it was amazing to see a guy of his age running around like a kid. It was awesome to see and the crowd was going nuts for it.

I know there's a lot of McCray fans and he seems like a nice guy and all. So this may not be the popular thing to say...But I thought that little routine after his putt on 14 was unsportsmanlike and disrespectful to the rest of the guys on his card. Premature celebration, rubbing it in his competitors faces before they even holed out. Hole 17...karma.

JohnE has done "the sprint" countless times in tourneys. He is a very emotional guy and it was in no way disrespectful to the other players.

I found http://grantland.com/features/icing-kicker-work/ elsewhere and was going to post it until I saw you beat me to it. ESPN always finds the most dramatic looking stats to skew things to their particular bent (I guess that's "good" journalism-and by "good" i mean anything but). But the actual data seems to be pretty close to saying "there is no difference between the two"

Side note: I don't care how you weight 74.3% and 74.6%, they NEVER come out to average 75.5%. But the book explains that the initial averages are weighted, etc.etc., boring math sentence, ... it all makes sense in the end.

That is your interpretation. I have a different take. If you want to do some attention seeking behaviors like running around through the crowd, at least wait til the rest of the cardmates have holed out. Otherwise it is a clear courtesy violation. Whether its Nikko or McCray should not matter.

801.04 Courtesy
B. Players should watch the other members of their group throw in order to aid in locating errant throws and to ensure compliance with the rules.
C. Players should take care not to produce any auditory or visual distractions while other players are throwing. Distracting actions include: shouting, cursing, freestyling, striking course equipment, throwing out of turn, throwing or kicking golf bags, throwing minis, and advancing on the fairway beyond the away player.

That's a good read.

anybody remember Nikko doing it from hole 7 to 8, yelling "lets go" in 09?

I can't recall the details...but if he waited til his card mates holed out I wouldn't have a problem with it! Emotion and excitement! Awesome!

But to run off and ditch the rest of the card before they even holed out, that is entirely different.
