So after watching a few in your bag YouTube videos, I noticed that most of the guys on your carry a few molds but lots of each mold in varying degrees of wear. Like five KC aviars 4 rocs, 5 teebirds, 4 destroyers. Right now I am carrying 14 discs, no two the same but each fills a need. Wondering what most people do. Maybe I shoud change my bag?

there are already threads on this, but I like to carry different molds personally.

There are two different styles of bag: cycling one mold in a base plastic for a speed slot (roc) and having one mold for each stability (comet, buzz, wasp)
Both work well u just have to figure what works best for u and what u prefer

I have sort of a hybrid of the two setups. I have two of almost everything, but it's almost more about backups than anything in most cases. I carry 9 molds and 15 discs total.

Though today I just carried 3 and scored pretty well.

I'm guessing that the longer I play to have beat in some of my favourite discs I'll start having more duplicates of that mold...not because I am planning on cycling but because my Destroyer isn't fading as much as before and doesn't handle headwind the same, for example. But guess what, that's an awesome distance crusher. Time to buy a new one to act like it used to, and not ditch the old one that bombs straight distance.

I try to have molds that are easy to throw together that do what I want out of the box and stay that way, I guess a more new school way of doing it...but I don't doubt that as time goes on I may cycle my favourite molds more just because it's convenient. Some people go into a mold knowing they will cycle it. It's all personal. I want to get a mold that is great from the start/nearly from the start and stays that way...and I can buy replacements. If it's useful for multiples/cycle then that's probably great, but I'd rather be able to buy a new one to fly straight/turn a little than have to buy another one and wear it in for 3 months of tree hits before I have a disc that does what I want.

I carry 20ish probably 12 different molds. Probably only throw 7 molds on an average day other molds are for winds weird unusual shots or if I'm playing doubles and I get chances to run some up shots. The true answer to your question is there's not factual way to construct a bag. Do what you like and what works for you don't worry about what's in your bag just focus on your shots.

Sponsored pros have a limited selection of discs to chose from. Where you and I could put a Stalker alongside a Teebird, they have to stick with one company and beat in molds to fly differently. So it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparing them to us.

I personally don't carry multiple discs of the same mold, but lots of people do.

Don't suddenly change your bag, but maybe start thinking of how you can reduce the mold amounts by seeing if you are able to cover multiple shots with a single disc.

The key reason pros do it is partly a limited lineup of choices from a company but in the long run its better to learn and develop with fewer discs and working those discs on multiple lines.

but team trilogy bro

Even when I load up my tourney bag with 18-20 discs, my mold count stays around 7-8. Duplicates in various weights, plastic blends, and stages of wear can open up some new lines for you, but it's all based on preference!

Keep in mind how often pro's play, we are talking multiple rounds a day, and the rate at which their discs season is exponentially higher when compared to you and I. More often then not I see people carrying 3-4 of the same mold to "be like the pros", but they are all fairly new and fly the exact same. I would recommend finding those 5-7 molds that are your go to's, buy back ups, and then cycle the backups in once your primary throwers are truly seasoned/not true to the numbers. There are obviously exceptions to this rule, i.e. not all plastics for a given mold fly the same etc.

My bag is a hybrid of the two schools of thought. I cycle putters and mids because they have been in my bag for a long time now. I only have one driver I truly cycle and the rest I carry 1-2 backups because I lose discs very easily but never throw them.

i tend to carry 8-10 molds but around 18-20 discs.. i LOVE to cycle discs and carry various stages.. ones i find a mold i like and feels good in my hand i just stick with it and carry several of each.. ie 3-4 Clozers, 4-5 Ghosts, 3 Patriots, 3 Bandits, 2 Rivals, 2 Firechickens, etc. .. but all n all it comes down to preference

Aw man I was going to say that^

I think most pros cycle discs because they like the feel of specific discs in their hand even down to different runs of the same mold. Using the same mold gives the same feel in your hand. Also, if pros didn't cycle discs then once a disc was beat up it would be of little use to them.

I have been experimenting this year with a smaller bag that my wife made out of an old army gas mask bag. It holds 8 discs max so I don't carry any duplicates in it. I'm working on experimenting with different setup's with 8 discs to see what discs I like best for which type of shots. My plan was, by the end of this year to have my bag decided on and to use my slightly larger bag that holds 14 discs to carry duplicates of my go to discs with a couple singles of utility discs.

The problem I've run into is I really like carrying the small bag both for ease of carrying and for the challenge of developing an 8 disc bag for different courses, it's become an additional level of fun to the game for me, so I may be sticking with this bag next year as well.

I carry 20 discs and 9 molds, but nearly my entire bag revolves around 4 molds. The few solo discs I have are for specialty (get out of trouble) shots. I really WANT to be a mold minimalist but I also really like testing out anything and everything.

I am a mold maximalist. I only carry two or more on one mold if the different plastics really show different flights. Like Terns.

I carry a ton of Rocs and a Ton of Teebirds, but few duplicates of anything else. For putters I go with drastically different plastics (i.e. Big Bead Aviar:Glow KC Pro and JK) so that hardly counts.

To the OP: I agree with what others have said. Do what works for you, but don't hesitate to try out reducing some of the amount of molds you carry, just for consistency sake.

I used to carry a bag full with all different molds. We're talking 20 different discs, and not much thought about filling certain slots. As I progressed and found what I like versus what I dont, and transitioned from RHBH to RHFH, I finally narrowed down a bit. Still, I carry 12 molds, with different molds to fill various stabilities and shots rather than many of one mold in different stages of wear to create the stabilities I need. Also, I carry all premium plastics like Champion, Icon, etc, so wearing them in would take quite a while at my level of play.

To sum up what others have stated: Carry what works for your style. Too many molds can lead to overthinking shot selection and a lack of consistency. And if you lose that one disc that works, with no backup, you are sol unless you want to pay to replace it. But don't think that just because the pros carry 4-5 of only a few molds, that you need to mirror their bag style. Their experience has led them to their lineup and eventually yours will too.

Thanks for all the great feed back. I like trying new discs but I definiley have a few that I really like that I will probably buy back ups for once they start to perform differently
