Having a few rough online buying experiences lately...

Man, I'm gonna need to find some new places to shop I think.

GGGT:
Purchased from GGGT off of eBay last week, cause you can see the actual discs and I was searching for premium, good looking, lightweights for my wife. Needed by the first (her B-day). Bought mid last week and was contacted I think Friday with the "we don't have the disc we had for sale on eBay, can I send you a different weight/color combo." Okay fine, I responded IMMEDIATELY (like within minutes) to go ahead and send them but I need them shipped that day cause they are a gift. Heard nothing. Sent a follow up email an hour or so later "Are these going to ship?" STILL nothing. We were running around a lot this weekend, so not much time to keep following up with them.
Today I got a response to both emails (again two days later and now too late), so I cancelled and requested my money back. (Which will also take a couple days thanks to Paypal).
Ordering from them via eBay has been pretty slow to get out the door before, but I think I'm done now.

Clearwater (over the past month or two):
I bought 4 Berg K2s from Clearwater. One arrives warped cause it was packaged poorly (bent over and sandwiched between discs at an angle, shoved in a box). I was too stoked to have them in hand and just took it out and threw with it anyway. Wrote Kastaplast about the warp and they told me it can happened if shipped wrong and to put flat weight on it and see what happens. I've done that and a slight warp still remains. Okay, I'll live.

Next, I bought two first run 173g Kaxes and only received one (even though quantity was highlighted on my invoice). Called and they said that sometimes happens if their shipper doesn't check quantity (umm, you had ONE job, bro), so they shipped me out another and some patches. Cool. No prob.

Then ordered two first run 173g Kaxe Zs and a preorder t shirt I assumed was going to be in the same time as the new Colts, as it was advertised on Innova's dealer flyer together. I wait a bit longer than I thought normal to hear anything, so I decide to write them and check in.
I ask when they expect to get in Berg K3s, inquire about the delivery time on my order, and also ask that, if they don't mind, could they swap out the XL I ordered for an L (I had just received an XL in the mail from elsewhere that was way too big).
No answer back. Nothing.

Few days later a shipping notification comes through.
Arrives today with an XL shirt (too big, but I guess my bad ultimately there) and two 175g Kaxe Zs with a note physically taped to the order telling someone to call me and the 173g weight/quantity on my invoice is again highlighted.
Clearly they never pulled the discs for my order at the proper weight while I waited on the dang T Shirt, then their shipper didn't have the customer service to even call me or discount my order for sticking me with wrong weights.

I'm not a huge stickler on +/- a gram or two usually, but in this case I definitely wanted all 173s to cycle through these over time.
Sucks also that they are the main hub for Kastaplast, so mostly the only game in town.
I think I've bought 10 total Kastaplast discs from them in the past month or two and have had three rough experiences out of maybe 5.
Inifinte or Ozone are my next go to for Kastaplast, but their stock is generally low, and Clearwater will likely hold the strings to the new Berg K3s and driver coming out soon...

I like marshall street disc golf because they don't just believe what the manufacturer writes on the disc. They actually weigh it.
They also send free stickers with every order.

If they dont have what I want I buy from infinite discs.

I've ordered a bunch from GGGT eBay and shipping was super fast. I wouldn't write them off.

I haven't ordered from Clearwater. When I saw their website I thought they sold fireworks.

:p I almost snarfed my drink through my nose reading that, lol! Spot on!

GGGT seems to always take a couple days to get it out the door for me. Then there is the added frustration of dealing with the USPS, but thats not going away anytime soon.

No one ships as fast as Reptilian, I have to say.

Marshall street is the way to go. I've ordered around 50 discs from them the last 2 years and have never had a problem. And they ship out fast with priority mail.

I've had good and bad experiences with clearwater. The bad was not enough to rule out buying from then entirely, but only if it was something I couldn't get anywhere else. I feel the same about ebay. It doesn't seem to matter what sellers on ebay i go thru, on that site "ships fast!" really means ships whenever I get around to it

yeah, I need Marshall St to be the US distributor for Kastaplast like yesterday.

infinitediscs.com is my ultimate.

Pictures of every disc so you know the exact weight, color, and stamp. No guessing games or "preference." No "Go lighter" or "Go heavier." You get the exact disc, independently weighed, individually photographed. You get EXACTLY what you want. Moreover, every order I've placed with them has come within three days. Great place to get just what you're looking for.

I've ordered from Infinite discs a few times and always had a good experience.
Their model is the way to go, for sure.
I wrote Clearwater yesterday, this time a Facebook message, and no answer again so far.

^^. And weight and color selection.

I've had a couple bad experiences with Clearwater. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, except maybe to a few people I don't like.

I personally like discgolfcenter.com fast free shipping

Lulz. DGC is a great online store, and Ive ordered many disc from them (I'm well into the 8% discount).

But their shipping is pretty darn slow.

^ Slow shipping was my experience there, too. Same w GGGT.

Part of my issue complaining about this kind of service is I was an Operations Manager for many years with a major retailer and I shipped and received a TON of gear daily (often, in literal tons). I've shipped all over the world, extremely high value, with every shipper you can think of, etc, etc.

So, it kind of drives me crazy when I order a couple of frisbees one day and it takes two more additional just to get them in the mail. Not to mention the weird issues I've had with Clearwater.

Also, I'm writing this time instead of calling cause it tells me exactly how closely they are paying attention to their business.
I think I'm getting a pretty clear message...

I did a factory 2nd buy at the innova factory store and got a couple of duds (echostar terns). :( I emailed them pics and everything but have no response.

conversely I also got some discmania DD2's that had shipping damage but they replaced them on the spot when they got my email. so I'm happy with them.

Yeah, I've also had nothing but good experience with Discmania... fast shipped and have also heard their customer service is great (though I've never needed it).
Thats the bonus of dealing straight with a smaller company like them or Reptilian... they're really invested in their product and customer service.

Keep in mind a big part of my frustration surrounds getting ahold of Swedish discs and ultra lightweight premium plastic, so I am operating a bit in the weeds here... I love Kastaplast and my wife needs sub 140g discs that she isn't going to chew up in a week.

Ordering online, especially via eBay, can be a crap shoot or a goldmine. So much so that I'm going to only purchase in person from now on. No more collector discs or OOP. Just straight off the shelf of where ever I am that has something I want. So much less hassle and it'll be me making the final decision instead of Joe Guy at the shop..."It's penned 176, feels 170, and they wanted a 173. I'd say it's good!"

Marshall St was really rad when I ordered from them. They tell you exactly how many of each color and weight they have in stock when you order. Was pretty quick shipping too. Though, I never order anything online that I need in a hurry anymore. Just don't trust that USPS :)

I also like to that it's just a piece of plastic though and 1 gram difference wont make or break my round. I skated an 8.5in skateboard for the last 4 years until recently. Exact same brand, shape, size, everything. I was scared to change. But I tried a size down not long ago and realized that with a little time and very minor adjustments it's not any different. And skating anything is better than skating nothing. And I actually prefer the 8.25in now. Still the same Bacon brand though :)
