Disc Golf World Tour

I have no idea how to read this comment.

Backroom disagreements between the Innova/Jussi and the Kennedy/Houck design philosophy, as alluded to in Dunipace's AMA?

Huh? I think you just read WAY to into that. Chucks comment is pretty simple at face value, I'm not sure why your trying to extrapolate something from that.

Actually not trolling for a change, honestly didn't get the comment.

Soooo...being at Winthrop as well doesn't hurt the pleasing storyline...?

I'm genuinely a bit shocked here.

I love the vision and the idea of this tour, have done since it's inception. I understand why tying in the first event at La Mirada, second oldest course and all that, is a good idea. Join old with new blah di blah. I had never seen pictures or video of La Mirada up to now.

It all seems a great idea until you see the first picture of the course - http://www.discgolfworldtour.com/photo-gallery-la-mirada-gold-course-photos/

200' Noob hyzer to the middle of a playground? Can we call this hole Kiddy Killer?

...

Of course this won't be a problem at the event (or at least I imagine/hope the park will be closed to public?) But I'm assuming those astro tees are permanent and given as a legacy of the tour, which again as an idea in principle is great. Is it a good idea to leave a legacy of just plain dangerous course design for the "pinnacle" tour though? Is this the sort of course Discgolfpark will be installing in the US?
...

Headline for the future, that'll get us the media exposure we're after...

"Child maimed by frisbee at course that hosted the Disc Golf World Tour"....
...

Good luck with the event which I'm certain will be fantastic, most of the promotion so far has certainly been top notch, just don't kill anyone out there....

I predict:

Within 10 years, disc golf will join Jarts and three wheelers in the dust bin of outlawed dangers.

The tour is being bookended on both sides by the 2 courses most associated with Innova. Jussi is heavily involved with innova. Its pretty simple, no?

It's pretty simple. Winthrop is in Innova East's backyard thus has the advantage of Innova being able to invest its resources far more easily than if the event was 1000 miles away from their home base. La Mirada is in Innova West's backyard thus giving them a similar advantage in terms of utilizing every resource they have available.

Basically, they can iron out any problems and unforeseen issues more easily and perhaps more quickly being so close to home.

Not a whole lot different than the GBO and Worlds benefiting from being in Dynamic's backyard. Or the USADGC being in Discraft's backyard. Or the Vibram Open being in Vibram's backyard.

Ah. Thanks for spelling it out for me. I feel dumber than usual.

Anybody watching the facebook livestream on right now? They're promoting the heck out of registering on the site, but it really does seems like you get some cool free features.

You know what I notice when I play tournaments at public parks? A general lack of pedestrians and DG unaware folk mindlessly walking into fairways, or Tournament players throwing at those unaware folks that are at the park. Players and related staff will fill ip enough parking lots and corners of the park to keep people safe. Plus the course has been there for 30 years.

Please stop the hyperbole, and my apologies JTacoma03 for the thread drift.

So I'm all signed up and following and registered and read the page on how to stay connected...
Seems like the emerging sports live stream is pretty unofficial, no mention of it whatsoever. I guess we'll see, I'm expecting a single camera with a guy peeking around the crowd for a side view of the drives.
If it's better than that I'll be happy until Friday

My Instagram feed is getting spammed heavy with dgwt. Haha everyone is reposting the same shots all at the same time. I've seen about a hundred pictures of that bird logo..

Their media team is going Hamm! Heavy promoting is in the fullest effect.

I also got an email from LiveStream from Emerging Sports, with a link to Thursday's Coverage

Emerging Sports TV has invited you to watch their next live event: Disc Golf World Tour01-LaMirada Open
Disc Golf World Tour01-LaMirada Open

Now this links me to Friday the 11th, so I guess we're hosed for Thursday live coverage. Unless some people get some live facebook vids rolling.

Guys, you should've seen it coming way before that article. It's only 90 minutes of broadcast, and their target group has been the general public all along.

Also, rounds 2 and 3 will be available as play-by-play coverage a week after the respectable rounds, from what I understood. You need to sign up on the DGWT website (for free) to see them.

Or you could have seen it coming if you watch the European Open last year.

Maybe we should wait to see what kind of quality they bring to the coverage, even if it is just 9 holes of a round, before we bitch too much.

If the choice is a full 18 hole round of just the lead card being followed by just one or two cameras or the back 9 of the round that includes multiple groups using more than just two cameras and there's very little lull in the action, which is preferable?

This is kinda what I'm hoping they are doing, especially given all the hype.
