[Innova] V aviar

Is the DX BB not a production disc so they can make these special ones? Still silly the Aviar Driver isn't a production disc in the base plastic. I can't grip KC in the cold of MN.

If you want a production baseline big bead Aviar, just get a JK Pro Aviar. The Pro plastic in those is grippy and a little flexible and it's pretty close to DX, maybe a little nicer feeling (to me). In the cold, it would be great.

It just might be a good winter option. I wish the KC was not so ungrippy to me.

I guess even with hundreds of putter options it's still not enough for me

They (innova) gotta keep up with the joneses
Whale to compete with dagger
colt to compete with judge
v aviar to compete with ...pure?

Not that Trilogy discs aren't great discs...but I'd consider Innova as the "Jones's" of the plastic world. I don't think they're trying to keep up with anyone in the industry. When you have near unlimited R&D abilities and some of the greatest minds in disc golf under your label, you pick them apart to find out what they want.

Jk is floptastic, it was almost r pro when I checked it out.....are there new runs with stiffer plastic?

That's my feeling every time I've picked one up. I'm through Gotta Go Gotta Throw very often and I always feel my way around the store. Did Yeti's for a while, that plastic is perfect, putted well too. Had trouble driving them with my fan grip, so I moved on. I might be getting away from driving/upshotting baseline putters for premium putters... so maybe back to the Yeti's? IDK those did feel so nice in the hand both in plastic and handfeel.

I'm so confused

Nah, not as far as I know, but he mentioned grip issues in the MN cold, so I figured a floppy putter might be OK because most plastic blends tend to firm up in the cold.

Yeah I agree about Yeti plastic; it's a pretty great blend of Pro! I've putted on and off with Yetis and they are nice. I can't drive or upshot them well at all, so my minimalist nature is always a bit annoyed at having to carry around an entire mold only for putting. In my current minimalist winter bag, I'm just putting my stiff Pro Pigs. The stiff Pro plastic from the Innova Factory Store is really nice too; a lot like the Yeti blend, only a little tackier. Of course I don't know anyone else who wants to putt with Pigs other than me, but it's been a little windy here lately and that's been working well for me so I'm sticking with it for now.

Pretty much just r pro these days.

The old jk felt awesome I had some black ones that had good stiffness to them but were very tacky. They were perfect winter kc pro aviar replacements. Still kick myself for selling them.

From Innova's site:

The Innova VAviar is the latest disc to the feature our V-Technology. We took the Aviar P&A and added the V-Technology with a small comfortable bead to create a harmonious balance of everything you could be looking for in a go to putter. This combination left us directly in-between two discs - the Aviar and the Big Bead Aviar. Two of the most consistent and timeless discs in the game.

It's a VTech Aviar alright. The profile pic looks like it has a high, curved shoulder to me. That sort of shoulder is most of the reason Aviars (other than Yetis) aren't comfortable to me as putters, so I'm definitely going to pass on this one for now. I'm sure I'll handle someone else's or one in a store at some point.

What's wrong with the reg Aviar, beaded or not? Is Innova going to go through their entire lineup and make variants of every disc? That would be hideous.

Gotta hand it to Innova on their marketing prowess. However, *I* will be the judge of how small and/or comfortable the bead is. I could also add that *I* am looking for a shallow rim in my go-to putters; hence, my use of the Judge and the Warden. But that's just me, YMMV.

I agree that I'm going to wait to actually feel one of these in my grubby paws at the store before committing green dollar bills to the purchase of one. I'm curious about the numbers; if this is a very straight-flying putter due to the V-Tech, I'll be interested in it.

Time will tell, I guess....

So they brought back the small bead aviar then? That a no brainer, and over due at that

What's wrong with trying to be Innovative and make new variations and molds?

IDT they own any of their Innova source molds. Get it right, man!

Three Putt might be able to set it straight, but I'm thinking the only small bead aviars that CAN be made are Omegas, before this Vaviar.

I agree. I appreciate that Innova puts in the effort to try new molds, new combinations of molds, new plastics. Doesn't always work out, but a lot of gems and gold nuggets are sifting out of the panning process, so to speak.

I don't mind Innova working this VTech technology, either. It's been a HUGE success (for me, anyway) with the Colt. I haven't tried the VRoc (yet), but I'll bet the VTech Aviar will be interesting at worst, and awesome at best.

Does Innova have too many molds? Maybe. But if they're making money, advancing the cause of Disc Golf with their sponsorships, and putting out products that people like, I'd say they're doing the good and right things... as are other DG companies.

Gotta go, gotta throw... no time for hatin' on someone for trying new things...
