Why are women not rated 1000+ rated?

Toot late to edit:

This is from a (sad) story written by an NHLer:
Once you get to the pro level and you witness how fast the game moves, you finally realize that no amount of running or weight lifting or private lessons is going to change one simple question: Do you understand hockey? Do you really understand the game? Do you know where that puck is going next?

Either you have it or you don't. Screaming at your kid in the car on the way to a hockey game isn't going to get them to the next level. Having a 12-year-old kid run six miles after practice isn't going to turn them into Jonathan Toews.

The thought that men are better putters than women because of some type of physical superiority is ridiculous.

so you're saying that women just don't get it then? Really, make a point that makes sense please.

I have no problem getting beat by the ladies. I've been doing it all my life.

Just because Eagle and Paul don't LOOK physically imposing doesn't mean they aren't, especially when compared to the ladies. There's far more to athletic ability than the eye test.

Not arguing that, but athletic ability and physical superiority are two very different things. I think we all know that.

So, for the 47th time this thread, if women were given more of an opportunity to compete with men at higher levels in many, many sports, over time, they would close the gap and in some sports perform equally. Disc golf, despite how macho some of you think it is, would be one of those sports. Sorry fellas, its true.

The few Pro Women we have have proven that they can compete with Men. Catrina is better than almost every male in my town, even the ones who play daily.

And there is no doubt in my mind that if we had every young girl who shows any athletic prowess in the world play and practice disc golf daily, that there would be multiple 1000 rated females from all walks of life.

But this is an athletic and flexible-strength based movement, and at the highest levels males will have a biological advantage. (So I'm not sure what the cap on ratings are for females, but surely there is one, just as there is for men)

My point is there's not enough playing and the competition they play against is lacking. There's no drive to be better at putting. 48th time.

The reason you have to keep saying it is because it's simply not true, no matter how much you want it to be.

Name a sport that requires athletic movement where women perform equally to men at the highest levels.

LOL... How do you put your pants in the morning?

Prove to me that it's not true. Prove that anyone wouldn't get better by playing better competition and having access to similar resources.

I'm a stay at home father of 4 girls. Next year my wife promises to get my name on the bank accounts. I agree with everything Stu posts. Keep up the good fight brother!

Nobody is disputing that they wouldn't get better. The point is, no matter how much women practice, or are exposed to higher levels of competition, there is a performance ceiling. It's not that hard to figure out.

By your logic, if I really, really practiced a lot and hung out with NBA players, then I'd be able to find a way to play in the NBA and dunk on Lebron James. Have you ever watched a WNBA game?

Are visual-spatial skills different than visual-spatial intellect? I did not read the article, but visual-spatial intelligence is a very common test for pre-k and elementary age children in determining learning disabilities/intellectual deficits/etc. (my wife is a school psych). I will ask her if the scale is the same for both sexes.

My opinion on this subject in general is that there are not enough women, and not enough high caliber women athletes in the sport to give to much weight to a rating argument. I have played with plenty of 350 foot max distance 1000 rated players. Putting is a huge contributor of course, but it's just about having a well rounded skill set and being consistent. There are plenty of women, some probably in the sport now and others out there in something more main stream, that have the ability to be 1000 rated disc golfers.

Please name these 'plenty of players' that are 1000 rated and have 350 ft max distance (which to me means wide open shot with their longest drivers)

I wonder about this as well. The couple 1000+ rated players I've been around throw 450+ in an open field.

The 350' accurate argument seems like a remnant of 15 years ago.

Great contribution.

That contribution is more than you've ever made in this thread. You are reiterating something that is not true and you can't find any scholarly article that will back up your claims. Several people have provided statistics and research to back up the claims that women will not be equal to men in sports no matter what they do. I agree the gap can be closed but across the board, women will never be able to be as dominate or be able to be truly competitive against a man at the same level

Yes. If you put in your 10,000 hours of focused training into basketball and went to the right prep school with the best competition you'd have a shot at it. This guy could dunk on LeBron, he's white and like, 6'1:

And he also was born with a skill that I wasn't. Jumping high. When I was younger, I actually could dunk, but I was certainly never going to dunk on an NBA player. The average PG in the NBA is 6'4". Can I practice to be taller, too?

At this point, I'm sure you're just trolling, or were beat up by your older sisters growing up.

It's telling that when someone wishes to discuss gender equality he gets called a troll and hit with a sexist joke. Way to man up.

You are trolling until you can provide research or statistics to back up your claim. I have provided 2 articles which you are free to read. The last one is credible and scholarly.
