Dogs don't belong on disc golf courses

That really doesn't make sense, when you think about it. I'll give you a couple of minutes.

Wow...yes it does make sense. It's selfish because dogs enjoy getting out in nature just as much as humans do. So to lock them inside your house, forcing them to sit around while you go out and have fun is selfish.

I don't know where you get this twisted thought process that it doesn't make sense, just like I don't understand how you think everyone here hates the dog person just because you do.

Yeah, you're not thinking this through.

Some irreparable truths about disc golf we should stop arguing about:
1. Some of us look like the Comic book store guy from the Simpsons
2. Some of us smoke pot
3. Some of us drink beer
4. Some of us don't return discs
5. Some of us are hippies, others are rednecks
6. Some of us DG with dogs.

This is the very fabric of disc golf culture.

thats the stink disc method. might keep the katanas of the world repelled for a while.

I love dogs and have one myself so I understand why people get upset at the notion that they can't bring their beloved pet somewhere. But honestly I don't like dogs at the DG course and stopped bringing my own after only a few attempts. Yes the poop thing is an obvious issue, but bigger to me is the distraction that the dog presents. Keeping tabs on a dog keeps me from focusing on the game like I want to. And I honestly feel that there are much more ideal places for your dog to get exercise ... like a dog park.

Late this previous season I was playing a solo round at Brent Hambrick Memorial and a few holes behind me were two older guys with two dogs, both off their leashes. As they walked up the fairway of 4 and I was getting ready to putt on 6 one of the dogs decided to run over and check me out. Granted it was just a round for fun but the dog was a big annoyance and every time I tried to ignore it and go through the putting motion it would start to take off like it was going to fetch my putt. Finally the owner convinces the dog to come with him. It wasn't long before that same dog had taken off exploring through the woods of the back nine. Over the rest of the round I would occasionally see this dog bolting across a fairway and then a few minutes later the owner looking for it. I doubt they got to play more than a few holes and if the dog stopped for a second to drop deuce on its runnabout they wouldn't have had a clue where at to pick up after it.

As stated earlier, dogs aren't the problem, the owners are. Just like a slow player, players who drive when your not done with the hole and random people just walking through your throw path when you are about to let go of the disc. People are ignorant and selfish and we have to deal with it personally through forums at DGCoursereview...

One Thing good luck getting any city or county park to ban dogs, never gonna happen, so just deal with it. Second this is just the case of some body having a bad day and wanting to blame the dog its cool let it out i know that dam dog cost you three strokes, really just relax thats what its all about. If its a tourny and money or plastic is on the line then leave the dog at home though.
For those of you you that cant take your dog with you that sucks yeah i like going without mine sometimes but i couldnt imagine leaving him at home when im playing four five times a week.

In a tournament, dogs are specifically disallowed (thank FSM). From the PDGA's "Competition Manual", Section 3.5(E):
For those players wishing to use a carrying device, approved carrying devices include disc golf bags, foldable chairs and push cart companions. No animals, motor driven or bicycle type devices shall be allowed at all PDGA events.

It is not "bicycle type".
