The Inevitable 2018 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

You could say any waterproof trail runner is made for disc golf, and we will never agree on which of them are best. Everyone's feet are different. Trail runners want the same thing disc golfers do (ultra-waterproof and ultra-durable)

I disagree with the view that trail runners and disc golf shoes should be waterproof. In my experience waterproof shoes keep water in better than they keep it out. My preference is for comfortable, grippy shoes that allow my feet to move correctly, and allow moisture to squeeze out while moving. If it is super wet out, I accept that my feet will get wet. The worst case scenario is for the shoes to act as tubs that hold the moisture in - hot spots and blisters soon follow.

Could not disagree more. Really good socks are the answer to most of your complaints above. Of course, I could help myself by not throwing my discs into rivers and ponds, lol. To each his own.

I'd rather just spend the money on some keens, salomons, merrells etc

Same here. I ran into the same problem I do with Nike as well; the shoes are cut just too narrow for my feet. No problems with that in Keens. Plus, they were supporting touring pros wayyy before Adidas

Yup same problem here. Flinestone feet suck. I wear a double extra wide(when I can find them) and some of the time even they aren't wide enough.

Waterproof shoes are the worst.

Non waterproof shoes + merino wool socks is the way.

(This assumes I'm not playing in the snow.)

The cheapest and nicer hiking shoes at a local marshalls type store have never made me feel bad about a purchase. Never spend over $30 for any shoes.

I give up spending any significant amount of money on disc golf shoes.
Some of the longest lasting shoes I have worn are some freaking Ozark shoes from walmart.
I'm done with Merrell's, Keens or any any other $100+ shoes.

Gotta disagree with you guys.
Good shoes that fit right are so, so much better.

I agree.

And nothing pisses me off more than watching a pair of shoes I paid $125 for disintegrate in 3 months.

I have lots of nice shoes, I just don't play disc golf in them.

Fair. Poor interpretation on my part.
Luckily for me my feet don't fit in Merrels or Keens. My Salomons have held up fairly well.

No you dont disagree.. Just buying overpriced stuff.

You can find xyz brand from nike ad merrels etc.

I have $100+ ebay listed shoes which sell to this day i paid $30 for. Designer limited release all leather stuff i wear for DG lol. Im not wrong at all. You can find nice ass cleats and boots etc given the seasons.

All of my Merrells have lasted me 2 years on concrete teepads, as well as being used as everyday shoes. And judging by the prices, you're buying Vibram soles as well. Are you one of those Neandderthal toe-draggers? ;)

Ive actually thought about buying some of the clearance stuff and selling it here lol. There is a huge market actually in that biz bc people dont know how to shop.

ive bought $150 shoes and lost em in a month.

and spent $30 and theyve lasted me over 2 years.

do research

For me its really about opportunity. Whenever I need new shoes is when I buy them. I actually have multiple pairs I wear depending on where I'm playing and the conditions. Have a pretty decent pair of New Balance all weather hiking boots I only wear when its deep snow or extremely muddy at a certain course here. I have a pair of New Balance trail runners that I wear for when its muddy and/or a morning round. They're only water resistant but work well enough if I keep the tent spray fresh. I also have a pair of waterproof Keens that I will sometimes wear in light snow or rainy rounds. Great waterproofing but might be the most uncomfortable shoe ever made for a big guy. Plus they weigh a ton. My favorite to play in are a pair of Nike Air Monarch basketball shoes. The only shoes I can find that actually fit my feet properly. But they have crappy tread, so I only wear them if its dry. All together they cost around $300 with tax.

so tldr: shoes depend on context?

Fair. I don't shop that hard. When the Salomons I like get low enough on Amazon, I order them.
Shrug
