I've seen Paige Pierce have a table set up outside her van with discs and swag for people to buy. There are other pros that do the same. You get to meet fans, hang out with your friends, and make some gas money.
When you're living out of a van and trying to make ends meet, an extra $1,000 or so could come in handy. I wouldn't call setting up a card table, setting a box of discs on it, and kicking back in a lawn chair "hustling".
Its been stated already about Paul's putter usage. Whether he changes every round or every tournament, he definitely goes thru them fast. I bet he goes thru 400-500 putters a year when you factor that its 2 new putters every round/tourney plus the ones that may never see the course after a heavy practice sessions. Plus, he's also throwing them and I believe he uses a different one than he putts with, right?
I think JVD said on Smashboxxx that he know of six players that made +$100.000 a year . . .but i wonder where Paige P fits in the income scale.
I don´t think she is one of those six. . but she has more titles and "screen time" than most players
Paul, Simon, Nate, Ricky, Eagle. Not sure who could be that 6th.
Exactly my thoughts . .but could it be Paige?
This is very surprising to me...
Simons disc sales is probably good. .but most of his sig. disc seems to sell out. . so he could make more if they made more discs
He might make more, up to a point. You gotta keep the demand high by keeping supply low.
Aren't all his sig discs manufactured by Innova? Discmania doesn't tell Innova how many discs of a run they will manufacture. This was documented by how many people complained about the low amount of DD3s that were originally made.
I believe this is what led Discmania to pursue other companies to manufacture their discs.
Jerm has to make that much a year, between disc sales, tourney winnings, and earnings from Jomez commentary.
Wouldn't it be Innova not telling Discmania how many they will manufacture? And wouldn't Innova have to abide by whatever order DM placed?
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding you. ?
I would be SHOCKED if Jerm makes 100k a year. He's made 20k from PDGA events this year, the other 80k from sponsor matching, disc sales, commentary? again...SHOCKED.
I agree with you in thinking that Jerm may not be one of the $100,000 players. But you forgot to mention his salary. $20,000 in winnings if "matched" by Innova puts him at $40,000. It's possible he could make $10k -$20k from discs/commentary. Adding in salary, that probably puts him close to $100,000. Purely guesstimation though.
I saw him staying at the same hotel I was at for a big tournament. It cost me ≈ $1,000 for a week. If he can afford that lifestyle for the entire tour, than he's probably doing alright.

Points well taken, thanks. But....even if Innova is matching tour income 100% that still leaves 60k from disc sales and commentary. That would still be surprising to me if he made that much from those 2 income streams.
