People living in the Northeast US, do not go out and play in this heat wave. The UV index along with the temps are way to high to try and play. I know because I played yesterday (July 5th) at 2pm with it being 94F outside.

The first hour was fine but after that it was all downhill. Between not being able to stop sweating and not being able to throw a disc effectively, it was a total waste of time and a risk to my health. Trust me.. anyone who lives in the NE US is not conditioned for this weather, especially go out and play disc golf. Luckily I put sun block on and had 2 liters of water with me.

The real problem came about on the 24th hole (Joseph Davis SP) when I over gripped locked my ESP Avenger SS (BH) and ripped it into the woods to the right. About 40 minutes later I found it but I was totally shot phyically due to the heat/sun exposure. The super thick hedgerows of JD didn't help either but I came home with a major headache and feeling completely drained. I realize that looking for my disc was risky and dumb due to the heat along with playing a 27 hole course.

Be careful out there. If you must play, bring extra water and be prepared to stop and/or play a shorter round.

Yeah must be tough, oh wait its been 94+ in Texas since mid May. Man up!

That is what you get when you live in a desert... you are conditioned to it, people up here are not. It is kind of like when you get a 1/2 inch of snow and there is 100 accidents per sq mile in the South.

Its the same temp here in Ottawa and I am planning to head out in an hour or so to play on a freekin ski hill....up and down the mountain we go. Wash Rinse Repeat

Play the shade and hydrate.

Who in the heck puts a post on a DG board telling people not to disc golf because of the weather? Have you ever met DG'rs? We're hardcore man.

i grew up in NY and can play here in Virginia and it's not a big deal if you're prepared. Also i run a few miles a day in the heat and i'm still alive.

Damn, these mods are brutal. Thanx, at least, for not arbitrarily editing my words this time & just obliterating them.

There was a guy a couple weeks ago driving a golf kart while playing a round at J.P. Moseley Park (He told us it was too hot to walk that far)...It's a long course but it's still measured in footage. Quite ridiculous and the ironic part was the guy was probably 25 years old at the most and maybe 180 lbs.

I have been out every day for the last 3 weeks. I have only been playing for 4 weeks now. You just need to know to drink water as you go.

I live in Orlando and it is so funny how northerners deal with the sun. When I lived closer to the beach, I could drive right down a1a (the road that parallels the ocean) and point out the lobster skinned people. Even after telling my cousins from Ohio they don't listen to put on sunscreen, and drink water.

On a side note, I was playing with a guy from Mass. yesterday, and we had one of our sun showers. He wouldn't believe me that it would only last 10 minutes. At the end he thought it was pretty nice, because the sun never went away.

Surely there are folks up there WORKING 8-hour days outdoors through the heatwave. Or running or playing baseball or whatever. I think you can safely play disc golf. Just be smart....be careful....hydrate.

I would rather a mod remove a post, than alter it, myself. Hopefully you received a PM with an explanation.

I wonder if the OP still thinks it was a good idea to post the "warning" lol

It is so hot that I was banned from teaching disc golf outside. I had to teach putting indoors for 20 minutes and then I snuck the kids outside for 10 minutes to practice driving. My supervisor caught me, but said as long as I bring them in for water after 10 minutes and do not go back out it was OK.

(I know snuck is not a real word, and "had to sneak" would have been more appropriate, but that's how I talk)

That is nothing. It has been hovering around 110 to 115 here in AZ for weeks. The heat doesn't keep us indoors. Just bring lots of agua.

AZ heat is different, plus you guys are over 90 for most of the year. Everyone knows Arizona heat doesn't count
