BlueBerry Hill vrs Flip City

Of course you would, you're a sponsored player with a 1000+ rating which then makes you what..um..probably like only .000001% of the disc golfing population?

Then I would say Flip City probably isn't for you then...in many different ways.

I'm pretty sure that even you avg player would love the course considering it had 3 layouts/tees

I drank my supper after a +7 on 24 at Flip City. You all make me want to road trip it to WI.

Wow, +7 is a great score at Flip for being a first year player. My best score of the 20 or so rounds Ive played at Flip is +5 for 24 holes.

TomJulio I really want to play Flip...I'm sure its very good but I have now played with more than one player who has told me Flip doesnt stack up with other courses in the challenge department. Everyone admits its remarkable and beautiful though. I admire your dedication to your course but you are viewed as a homer and it might serve you well to admit some of Flip's shortcomings in an honest way. You'd gain more credibility...as it is I am beginning to think you don't know what a good course is. Everyone likes something different and a relatively easy but interesting and beautiful course is not such a bad thing. Just because not everyone gives flip a 5 doesnt mean its a bad thing. My home course gets dinged for being too hard and will never enjoy the fame of flip though those who have played both Flip and my course report my home course far surpasses Flip in challenge. Does that mean my course is better..I don't know. I guess I am just trying to say it is impossible to please everyone and if Flip was more difficult you'd lose points from the masses...if it had more tees and baskets to serve diffrnt levels of players it might be viewed as cluttered...Seems its a slice of heaven out there in western michigan I wanna play it but being offended that it somehow ranks #2 out of close to 4000 courses does seem humorous to most of us. I will give you credit I've baited you numerous times for a flame war and you never bite. So just to gain some credibility can you admit a few things that Flip could improve/add/have that might make it appeal to those wanting more challenge.

I think I covered this in mine and Toms original flame session. Tom is not a local homer. It is much more than that. He is the King Flippy. He travels there during the summer instead of traveling to bag some new courses and states. It's like he was course bagging and then all of a sudden found HIS disc golf heaven and now.... it calls to him like a siren and he answers this call. The homers should be making a statue or a stack of rocks made in his likeness to honor him. If I found my heavily wooded course from the heavens, I might promote and defend it so fervently too. I feel that I might find this course in NC,Penn,Col or Wis. Any state with a butt load of heavily wooded courses. Of course there are plenty of crappy heavily wooded courses out there, just not as many as the incredible number of mostly flat lightly wooded schlock courses.

yes, oh yes! The Mark Twain of my thoughts and insights has nailed it! eggs-actly....a statue. a monument. Something that cements my image in stone and allows others to worship my likeness at my feet. NDA it's like we are mentally tied by an umbilical chord of truth, justice, and the American way. yes of f#cking yes!

Yes! Lets all call the french Govt. and have them build a 100' high copper skinned statue of Tom's avatar! DGCR's unite!

btw NDABRUSH, look no further than Winter Park for your dream course. I see it's not on your wish list. Put Winter on and take off Valley View.
It's just simply one of the worst around. 5 or 6 years ago it was actually pretty good and headed in the right direction, but angry neighbors sent it into suckville.

Im far from pro but enjoy a tough course as it is more rewarding and far more interesting if it is fair plenty of pros whine about tough courses but generally I do agree with the point that rec players rate down good courses because they don't shoot well

Agreed. I kind of use a different system.

If I shoot well, it probably isn't much of a course, and doesn't deserve a high rating. :)

FUNNY! I checked his wishlist also! :D

I was thinking the same when I read NDA's post. Glad you chimed in though, people tend to downplay my suggestions because of my constant nagging, er um cheerleading, for Winter Park.

I need to update my wish list. Just pretend every Heavily wooded course is checked, especially Winter Park and any other highly rated wooded course. Me and Dave242 have similar taste even though we are dif skill levels. So I would prob love Winter, leviathan, pyramids, golden gate. I could go on forever.

After a full week of thinking I still don't know what course is better than Maple Hill!

With that said I am still reluctant to place it on the top of my list.

Pyramid's seemed to have a lot of birdiable holes but you just had to work for them. We played the silver's after a suggestion from Mike-Jo but looked the the gold pins while we were playing and while it is a nice course I don't think it is as good as Maple.

It would be a great course to play during one of the three rounds of Vibram to give you birdie chances but I don't see those two making up anytime soon.

That's why concrete sucks, my 33 year old knees and hips ache too. I bet he'd LOVE winter park!!!!

So Ive seen it all...someone complaining about textured concrete tees

I prefer fine gravel with a servant at each tee maintaining it properly but I suppose someone won't like the servants outfits

gravel is nice when its maintained and dry

Hmm, I've played some bad concrete tees, but the ones on Blueberry were pretty nice from what I remember, and I played in vibram soled shoes with no issues pivoting.

Dude is lucky. He has played 12 courses and 2 of them are 5s.;)

Maple Hill >> Blueberry (haven't played Flip) >>>>> Hornings (although its still a good course - but WAY over-rated!)

I'd like to play Beaver Ranch, Holler, and Black Falls VT - they seem to be more in line with my preferences for wooded courses that play along some ravine or valley like Winter Park. I have a HUGE wishlist though. I like just a spattering of longer par 4/5 holes, a ton of variety of holes, and lots of beautiful and unique terrain. That's what's great about the highbridge complex (although it does introduce some rating inflation IMO).
