Ever caught someone with your disc?

i've got a couple discs that i found at one of my local courses that don't have any contact info on them. but i can tell from what other markings are there that the discs were special. i keep them around and will gladly give them back should the person be found.

very rarely do i get my lost discs back.

I threw one of my good drivers in the water while in a recent tournament down in Mobile, AL (4 hours away) - being a tournament, I had to wait until after the round to go in after it, but by the time I did, it was gone (the water was clear enough to see the disc) - a couple of locals I knew explained that sometimes there will be a couple of guys scavaging for lost discs after tournaments just to see what they can find, even though I never saw anybody - oh well, lost disc...

so I stay an extra day just to play some courses for fun and get a few more new reviews under my belt - went to play Chickasaw and being by myself, I wanted to play rather quickly, being I had already played 1 course that day and was trying to hit another 30 minutes away before dark... so I play hole 1 rather quickly and catch up to these 3 guys chunking discs on hole 2 (they seemed to be practicing, so they let me play through) - I throw 1 good shot and walk briskly to finish out the hole and get out of their way, when about 3/4s of the way down, I see my disc from the previous day...

not wanting a confrontation with 3 other guys and wanting to play quickly, I just picked up my disc and kept going, finished out the hole and walked to the next tee - apparently, they never noticed me pick up my disc and a couple of holes later they call out and ask me if I had seen an orange disc... well hole 2 sits on a hill sloping down to this small creek with nasty brown water, so I quickly thought up an excuse and said I hadn't found any extra discs and suggested it might have rolled into the creek (a good possibility on any normal day)

I half expected to cross them again later in the round and get questioned again, but I never saw them again and they were no longer on the course by the time I finished my round - very strange, but I didn't care, got my disc back!

There are definitely some great stories here... especially some really good kindhearted stories that truly define the type of people that generally play this sport.

I personally don't expect to find my lost discs, but should it happen, it all depends on the person that has them now.

If I was in a situation like Sidewinding, I would have also allowed them to keep the disc(s), as well as donated a few extras I carry with me on the course. All too often we take for granted how cheap this game/sport is to play, but at the same time, "cheap" to us ($8-$20+ discs) can be worth "$50" to someone else, especially families that are looking to have quality time, but can't afford 3-4 discs...

Of course, if it's a random individual that seems well off, and decides to have an attitude, then the situation would definitely turn in the opposite direction, and I will walk away from that course with my disc(s), no question about it... lol!

well it completely depends whether it is just another $8 disc or a Roc/Putter I've been playing with and beating it in for months on end and I know exactly how hard to throw it in different situations and know exactly what its going to do, each and every time

to somebody, thats just another $8 disc, but to me, it would be worth much much more - those are also much harder to replace

when i was a noob and still wrote all my info on my disc i saw a kid i ve thrown with before had found my favorite driver (qjls at the time) i offered him a trade he said no thanks i said thats cool and kept throwin with him end of story. iwish more people would teach the next gen. like sidewinding does instead of threating them like some of you. sometimes losing your favorite disc works out for the better, maybe for the better of your game or someone youve never met or maybe just the game itself.

Geeez, can you imagine what woodpecker would have done? He would have beat the hell out of both those kids then thrown a couple bucks on there bodies.

so today we were playing best shot...and we shot at a hole that the next tee pad is basically right in front of it...well a regular (jackass) was sitting up there and we didn't see him..well my friend threw his disc and it landed basically under the basket (all 5 of us thought it did its on a litle hill but we could tell) well...we get up there and search for a few...the guy was teeing off and he asked what color disc we were looking for..we said yellow and he said quickly..oh havn't seen it...he was the ONLY one up there and we couldn't find it ANYWHERE so im thinking he stole it...

i consider it almost as bad as stealing if you have my name and number right there...no way would i want to associate or play a round of golf with someone like that..i have had to physically take a disc from one douche that had a whole bag full of plastic..a kid with no discs is a different story or an unmarked disc..they are free game imo

bull****.

if someone steals your property, and you confront them with proof that it's your property, and they dont willingly give it back? "threating" [sic] them is the least you should do.

stealing is stealing.

So yesteerday my friend finds some no name driver in the middle of the fairway. He calls the number on the disc to see if the guy who lost it was still on the course. The guy says he's not out here and acts suprised my friend found that disc. Next thing you know someone comes running back from the next hole asking if we found a disc. My friend tells him yes, but he already called the original owner. The guy looked confused an a little pissed, but just said whatever and left.

lol thats funny. Never thought of that happening before.

so losing a disc is your fault and if someone finds it and uses it and never calls you, that's ok? bull ca ca!! that is like saying i lost my wallet and some kid is using it..

Not saying I agree, or that I disagree. I'd just rather not rehash this argument for the thirtieth time.
