Review by High Flyer in course Eagle Point Park

2.50 star(s) "Microcourse" A gem of a concept. Bonus for creativity. Each of the three baskets are playable from all three tees (sections of the walking trail partitioned with a post giving directions and distances). A 9 hole experience where you get a completely different look from each tee. A good...

Review by High Flyer in course McCowin Park

2.00 star(s) Good baskets, concrete tees, posts with distances, easy to navigate. Beginner friendly. Well maintained park, with other things to do (ie swimming pool). Not very challenging. Short distances, but creative use of space for sure. A moderate or better player would get a birdie on most holes...

Review by High Flyer in course Nature Park - Old Layout

2.00 star(s) Not too hard. Grassy, well maintained, not too many places to lose your disc. A good beginner course, one I would also recommend if your date has a short attention span, and you don't think they'd be up for more than a half hour. A lot of friendly locals. No real tees, signs were hit and...

Review by High Flyer in course Eagle Island State Park

2.50 star(s) With the addition of the holes on the south side (late fall through spring), this might deserve an extra star on the rating (I'm partial to grassy hills, what can I say). The north side can be challenging, some tight shots between trees and a water hazard. Good map, pick one up on the way in...

Review by High Flyer in course University of Utah - Old Layout

3.50 star(s) I must admit I'm partial to open grassy courses with lots of elevation changes. Just enough obstacles to make it interesting, but yet non hazardous. Rubber mats and concrete tees, benches, signs, this course is great. A little conflict with a parking lot on the back 9. I would have liked to...

Review by High Flyer in course Riverpark DGC - Old Layout

3.50 star(s) Multiple tees, many with rubber mats for the run up. A nice natural setting, but doesn't necessarily mean you'll spend all day looking for your discs in the rough (just keep those wild shots under control). Many creative, and challenging shots, but yet still a course where you should be able...

Review by High Flyer in course Freeman Park DGC

4.50 star(s) Good mix of par 3 and par 4s. Well maintained park. Elevation changes, a creek, and a variety of trees create different challenges. A couple nice long distance drives on the back nine. Plenty of pine trees to catch your discs. The more courses I play, the more I come back to this one as my...

Review by High Flyer in course Rock Springs DGC

2.00 star(s) A sloping course in a natural Wyoming setting. The out of bounds markers and pylons (made to "dogleg" around and between) provide a little challenge to this otherwise beginner level course. Good signs, new equipment. Very short, small area. Not much distance. The tees are dirt, and can be a...

    Drive Distance

Good poll. I think there's plenty of people who talk about their 400 foot plus drives and make the rest of us feel bad. Honestly, I rarely see folks driving much over 300 feet.

    Vacation in Las Vegas

If your family isn't into disc golf, Sunset park is large and enjoyable for many other reasons too (we used to like to watch planes fly low past the park approaching McCarran airport).

Review by High Flyer in course Ann Morrison Park - Southeast

3.50 star(s) Nice grassy, mostly open course. Plenty opportunities for the 300 foot plus drives. A couple streams add a little challenge to this course. No elevation change, and to call this "moderately wooded" I believe is a little bit of a stretch. A few holes are close to neighbors fences. Definitely...

Altitude and Climatic effects on flight

Faster yes, but again less "hang time," because the disc "feels like" it's going slower than it actually is, and loses lift sooner. The disc at lower altitude may be going 10 percent slower, but if it "hangs" in the air longer, it might compensate for the lower speed to get the longer distance...

Altitude and Climatic effects on flight

In a way of speaking, yes. A rule of thumb is that your true airspeed (at a given indicated airspeed) increases 1 percent for every thousand feet above sea level. Hot and dry climates can also thin out the air. Basically, it means less hang time, more speed at high, hot and dry courses. I've...

    Follow thru.....

I felt like I was having a hard time following through until I really got my body movement down. Do your run up with an x-step, reach back hard the step before you pivot and let the power transfer through your body from you knee to hip to shoulder to arm.

    [Question] Question of physics

It's so hard to find a good explanation on this. Here's my thoughts on the matter. There's 2 things that cause a disc to change bank: gyroscopic procession and asymetric lift. A sharp edged, well tuned disc will have very little asymetric lift, and what you are left with is the gyroscopic...
