 I don't enjoy throwing meathook fairway drivers, but they are so useful at times that I wouldn't want to be without one. I may not even throw it every round, but when the shot calls for it, there is nothing else that can do what it does.
I like the river for straight shots, anhyzers, standstills. It is a core mold in my bag.
I prefer Teebirds to explorers honestly, but they are the closest to that I have tried from trilogy. I do have two explorers for soft hyzers or for shots where the river could get away from me, but need...
I throw a mixed bag, but really like some trilogy molds. This is what I would do if it had to be 100% trilogy:
Judge: Classic Blend (putting) & Lucid (great upshot disc)
EMac Truth: Prime & Lucid
River: Opto
Explorer: Opto
Escape: Lucid
Trespass: Lucid
Felon: Lucid
Yes this one has an elevated basket. I have found the most success just throwing a big hyzer with a champ teebird. That 10' mound right in front of you makes the straight shot more difficult, imo. And as other said, it is a pretty tight course with multiple adjacent fairways.
I use a water bladder every once in a while with the Carlton and always with the Octo. Works well with both of them, but it is slightly more integrated with the Octo.
If I don't need as much water I usually place the hydroflask in the middle compartment of the Carlton. I like having the weight...
God that's a good looking bag! I wouldn't mind seeing more pics of the Rufus.
As to your point, I completely agree. Pound bags are so thoughtfully designed. I am rarely this much of a brand adherent, but I don't think there are many pieces of gear I have bought over the years that I am as happy...
Honestly, once I got the heat lamp I found an opposite problem. It is really easy to take it too far. Then it looks great when backlit, but dark when on a surface. Star is an easier plastic to work with, but my favorite is lucid/opto. It seems to take dye better than most champion and has a...
A heat lamp made all the difference for me with Floetrol. I create the bed in a pie tin and let the disc sit for one-two hours under the heat, depending on the plastic. However, some greasy champions are very difficult to dye.
I have 3 bladders and I just rotate them. You can also buy bladder drying racks. They help to keep it exposed to let it dry out.
I use 4 carabiners attached to the shoulder strap at various points to guide the hose through to the end, helps with flopping.
One advantage of using a bladder is...
I don't have much to add in terms of comparisons, but I am really digging the chameleon underworld. Defintely has more finish than a vip underworld or a Maul. Seems to fly like a slightly faster opto river. Looks wild in the sun, too.
