It is probably splitting players 3 ways based on skill level. I've never seen a 3 way split, but A pool/B pool is common. No matter what it is, show up and try it.

My simple advice... Within 30 feet putters pretty much fly the same when one uses proper technique. Perhaps at the two extremes, say like comparing a Rhino to a Magic, you will see a difference but most putters you will not. The key factor is picking a putter which is comfortable to hold...
