Review by rootofthechord in course Hewitt Park

3.00 star(s) Another good local course for Wacoans Overall, Hewitt Park is a nice neighborhood park disc golf course. Navigation is good - the next tee or fairway is rarely more than 100 feet from the previous basket. The Waco DGA has spoiled this course with a ton of obstacles and elevated pins; these...

Review by rootofthechord in course Liberty Park

3.00 star(s) A good mini-course Liberty Park fills the niche of "short, technical forest course" very well. The course consists of nine forested holes and one hole in a relatively open clearing. While the fairways tend to be straight or gently curving, most of the pins are tucked off to the side, requiring...

    DFW disc golf

What about Grace City Church? 1945 FM 286 on Google Maps; looks like it's got a decent sized parking lot on Street View. It should be about a 5 minute walk from the course. I've been to the course, but I've never gone in that way before.

Review by rootofthechord in course William Cameron Park

4.00 star(s) Excellent all-around course - 23 holes with all kinds of shots. You'll encounter uphill, downhill, wooded, open, and a small smattering of water hazards. - The course is short enough for beginners to enjoy themselves, but also interesting enough to keep the attention of more experienced...

You know you're addicted to DG when...

I'm traveling abroad for the next 5 weeks, and even though I'll never be within 300 miles of a disc golf course I still packed a few discs with me. I can't stand the thought of going that long without throwing a disc!

Funniest/weirdest thing you've seen on the course

Strangest shot I've ever had: I was putting with a DX Dart, the shot came in low, hit the basket... and squeezed cleanly through. It severely warped the disc, but the stunned reactions were well worth it.

AEA it is! Beta Alpha, Baylor University. KKPsi was one of the huge things that got me into disc golf, actually.

Mapping a disc golf course - Zephyr Cove

I'm the opposite of an art expert, and I only have limited experience with GIS, but: holy smokes. This is fantastically rich. I am very impressed and excited.

    [Vs.] Wizard or Judge?

Personally, I'm a huge Dart fan. I find that I get greater putting distance with the same amount of effort compared to the Wizard. From what I've seen, the Judge is more like a Dart than an Aviar.

Noobie Question Thread (Dumb Questions answered here)

Good point, and a good idea. If there's not a spot in my bag for it (I already have multiple similar discs), I might look at passing it on to someone else.

Noobie Question Thread (Dumb Questions answered here)

I recently found an autographed 2012 USDGC Champ Roc+ on the course. I can't read the autograph, but it looks like Chris H_____. No name or number otherwise. I've done a bit of research online, and it looks like the disc is rare, but not that rare. Should I make an effort to find the owner...

    California Courses

I frequently do the run from Sacramento to LA on 5 or 99. 5 is completely devoid of good courses, and 99 has a handful of decent courses anywhere from 5-15 minutes off the freeway. Modesto, Visalia, and Bakersfield come to mind. Given that you'd have to detour all the way over to 99, though...

How long did it take you to throw far?

100 ft - months after I started playing, some time in 2009. (I really sucked at first, and only played sporadically) 200 ft - May 2011 220 ft - August 2011 270 ft - June 2012 300 ft - TODAY!!! I was throwing on a football field, and for the first time I was able to clear 300 ft repeatedly...
