"I've been on the Minimalist Bag thread in the General part of the forum and stated that if I had to do a one disc bag, it would be the Envy. Yesterday, I actually did it. Threw 18 holes with only an Axiom Electron Firm Envy. The round ended up being a bit worse than my average for the course, but better than my worst. But one cool thing from the 'experiment' was the different shots I successfully made that I would have never tried if I had my full bag. Another thing was how good my putts outside my "confidence" zone I was able to make. The Envy may now take the place of my putter (Legacy Clutch) AND my approach (DGA Breaker).

I'm going to try a round with the Envy and a midrange to see how I do.....but I might also try another Envy only round.

My thought is the Envy is an excellent all around disc - tee shots, fairway shots, approach, putts - the Envy has it covered. Might not get super long distance...but still.

If you know someone starting off in disc golf, suggest they play a few rounds with only the Envy. I know that's going to be my advice. "

And I say "Haha I'm just going to beat this to death!" :D

My Electron Envy beat in to so straight and long I no longer really use it for an approach disc. If carrying a limited bag, I'll carry it for a putting approach combo. Damn thing goes forever.

Yeah it's really awesome when all the fade beats out of it... it's insane how far and dead straight it will go. It's almost a different disc.

I've got a cosmic soft electron and I have hit some great 70' ish putts with it and short aces. It's nearly as "feared/notorious" as my glow comet. Last couple times I placed/ won in league or casual tourneys I can think of at least 2 or 3 of those that I hit to keep the lead.

This is such an open ended question making it almost impossible to answer. Realistically, the most important putter in the history of disc golf is the Aviar. Especially if we are counting all the variations like KC, JK, and Yeti. It has won countless world titles, majors, putting comps, and tournaments. Historically, there really is no equal.

If we are talking about the best putter, it is probably the Wizard. Basically an updated and improved Aviar. The variation in plastics Gateway has produced it in make it almost impossible to not find one that will work for you. The perfect amount of glide and stability. Not to mention it is a phenomenal throwing putter.

In terms of newer discs, there are tons that are great (judge, Ion, challenger, luna, warden, magnet, Omega, P2, Marshal, etc.) but most are copies of these two molds. I would say, purely as a throwing putter, the Envy is probably the best on the market at this point, but I don't think it is the best for putting and most find it a bit too shallow.

Edit: If we're talking about people it would come down to Ricky or Paul. No Questions.

You know, I had a little time left for 4 more holes and decided to do Envy vs full bag (of gyro) and I'll be damned if the Envy wasn't winning -2 to even par.

Here's mine based on the situation I am throwing for:

Putting Putter-Warden Soft-Very reliable flight with the right amount of glide.

Straight/Anhyzer Approach-Keystone Opto-Nice and straight with the ability to shape shots in. Use it a lot for straight FH approaches. Holds a great anhyzer approach line. Lots of glide!

Hyzer Approach- Zone Elite Z- What more can I say about the Zone that hasn't already been said!

Anyone fux with The Crown? I've been a Wizard guy for 10 plus years. Crown has the bead, and feel isn't too far off. Less fade, more glide. I have 3, I've been trying them out.

Plucked from a different thread:
The APX can be a little tricky. If I practiced a lot and concentrated when I played, I'd dial in an APX and be killer with it. I don't practice and when I play I spend more time making sure I don't spill my beer than I do lining up my putts; when you play like that the Wizard is a lot easier to putt with.

....or an Envy. :D

Back in the day I used to play with "drunk drivers" . I'd keep my usual stuff in but if I was taking a case of beer I'd make sure to throw in my force... who am I kidding I used to throw the force 350 like a champ! It was always there, I just made sure I threw it on anything further than 200' it always came back.

The envy... also good for when you get a bit sloppy :D

What can't it do?!!

Doesn't everybody throw Envy's now? Aren't you a cliché at this point? :| Time to jump off that bandwagon, buddy. There are too many people on there for you to safely practice social distancing.

I don't, and the one time I was, that disc ended up in the water more than it did in the basket, unless I was playing Envy only, which I did once, but that was terrible. Idk what happened to that disc, but now I wonder...

This thread is making me want to go out and play a putter only round when it warms up a bit.

OMG I am a cliche !!!! Good thing I'm too stubborn to change despite the large bandwagon. I'm going to wait them out till they all get off..

Wait that won't happen it's the best putter or all time!

Maybe I can go back to surges, I still have one.

Too hard is not a thing. I'm waiting for someone to come out with Viagra plastic. :|

Too soft describes 95% of putters so you learn to live with it.

I love me some stiff/hard putters, especially for throwing. I just hate when it goes limp. :|

KC Pro Whales are my current jam. Feels better then a KC Aviar. Straighter out of the box too, less fade to beat out. I've definitely tried my share of putters too.

If I had a time machine I'd just go back to 1999 and buy 20 9X KC Pro Aviars. Then I could just ignore all threads about putters and throw 9X KC Pro Aviars until I died. :|
