you need to check out white bank in colonial heights, I has been called a mix of bryan and dorey, and I do my best to keep it in order. Also like that you have played emery and henry, way to make the drive.

I love Emory and Henry. I could be quite content to play it every day. But Bryan wins out because of the amenities it has.

I have been thinking about white park ( I think its called pharaohs tomb also) I just have not made the trip yet. But I will place it on the agenda for my next trip.

These are not neccesarily the best courses in each state but for one reason or another they are my favorites.

KY - Iroquois Park - Louisville
MO - White Birch Park - St. Louis
IN - Mesker Park - Evansville

There are only 2 states where i would feel I had played enough to comment. In MS I choose Lake Lowndes and In Texas I would say Jimmy Porter which is now defunct and possibly redesigned.

i'm hitting the road at the end of the month to finish off NJ, CT, and RI and pick up a couple more NY, and PA courses so those might change. As it stand now i've finished DE, VA, and all but one course in MD so totally feel qualified to speak on them, but again it's bias to the players likes and what they have played. If your looking for other criteria then the lists might change a bit. So my list

CA - Morley Field
CT - Cranbury Park
DE - Brandywine Creek State Park
FL - Gordon Barnett Park - Parkside
MD - Darnestown Swim & Racquet Club
NJ - South Vineland Park
NY - Prospect Park
NC - Kentwood
VA - Pharaoh's Tomb @ White Bank Park

After writing that I sure need to play more in some states. This thread will really show everyones personal tastes.

Your favorite course in NC is Kentwood? Interesting. I've only played in 2 states so far, my own, and only one in VA. When you live in the NC Piedmont it's kind of hard to go farther South than Charlotte, West than Richmond Hill, and North of Raleigh due to all the quality represented.
But,

VA - Danville #1 (Probably not my fave if I played other courses in VA)
NC - Castle Hayne

I've only played three in NC. PA and NC are my next targets for new courses after I finish of the other trip stated earlier. I'm sure after a few more courses in those states that will change, kinda the same as your VA course. It's kinda refreshing to see something like this, you at first are thrown by there choice but if you then look at what they have played alot of times I can see were others are coming from.

GREAT QUESTION

Having played in 44 states and being a LHBH player with a 937 player rating I might look at a DGC different than someone else.

By the way, come prepared- Bug repellent, water and long pants are a good idea.
