How do you full timers do it?

There is a park near work. I spend most of my lunch-hours there.

Take your wife out playing! Also, look for alternate sources of income to help with things that can possibly make it so you don't have to work 8-5. that's what i'm in the process of doin. It's fun :)

me =
- full time job
- long commute to work
- married
- kid

if you want to play disc golf a lot, you generally can't be all four of those things unless your family gets involved in disc golf

I work a 8-5 and still get 100 holes a week minimum. I do have a 1 hour lunch brake and there are three nine hole courses that I can play during that time. One of them is so close and short I can play 27 holes if I run. Monday night is league night (ending next week due to lack of light) Tuesday and Wednesday nights the lady is at school so I play both of those nights. I live 15 min from my home course and play morning rounds on the weekend so I can spend the rest of the day with the GF. Some weekends I go DG crazy and play 200+ holes. It is hard and it would be even harder if my GF didn't have night classes. I am taking advantage of my situation because I know I will not be able to play this much forever.

I also live 45 miles from work and in the summer I play early morning rounds on my way in. It can be done. Keep trying to find the time. It will be easier for you next summer when the days are longer.

I have worked freelance in the past and it is great but nothing beats full time guaranteed work with health benefets.

Hmmm... A solution could be quite simple if you ask me. Teach the wife to play. Then you'll always have time and a playing partner to boot.

throw a basket in the yard.. i feel your pain my friend.. not married (yet, serious gf) and i work full time with a decent enough commute..

lucky for me, i am good at my job (not luck), i get my work done and my boss is pretty lenient (lucky) and he usually lets me skip out 30 mins here or there... now with the bastard time change, i told him i would start taking 2ish hour lunch breaks and work later in the evenings if need be.

where there's a will, there's a way - speak up for want you want and compromise.

I recently stopped working freelance and got a full time 8-5 job (which I said I would never do). I drive 60 miles one way to work until I find a house closer to my new job so there isn't much time to play before or after work. Then most weekends I am spending time with my wife since I don't see her much during the week.

I was use to playing at least 3 times a week two or three rounds a day. Now I am playing maybe one round a week period. To be blunt its killing me not being able to play that much. With the time changing I won't even be able to have light to play after work.

Help me out and give me some ideas of when to play.

From a guy that puts in 60 hours a week find a way to putt on lunch and play when you can.

I work 8-5 but I dont have a wife or kids so its not as hard for me as most but i too would suggest a practice basket. I throw every day after work and my putting has went from a weak point to my strength... plus you can bring it with you so you can throw at it anywhere you want

I work from 6am -230pm, in construction up to 90 miles each way. 3 kids and my girl don't play. I play every day. I just tell my girl to have dinner ready at 6pm. From 6pm til 10pm im a dad. From 10pm til 12am I lay it down like a porn star. Then I sleep for 4 or 5 hours and do it all over again.

Well played, sir...well played.:hfive:

Scott! An 8-5 job? I never thought I'd see the day.

Become a minister. Everyday at lunch is an opportunity to play.

i bought a house that is a 51 second walk from the 9th teepad of a local course and 15 minutes from where i work, thats how i do it...

This for sure. Ashleigh either comes out with me to play or is perfectly happy with me going to play without her because she understands the addiction.

Cheeseheads are funny. :D

I have gotten hooked on this sport and find that I get cranky if I don't throw a disc in some way, shape or form at least twice a week. I'm lucky enough to work for a company that has installed 11 baskets on their property. The sad thing is, it's strictly employees only (our security guards follow the law to the letter). That being said, I also purchased a portable basket, Mach Lite, with my birthday money. I can take it to my daughter's elementary school ball field at the end of our street for practice sessions. Try getting your significant others involved, it strengthens the excuse for getting out and playing.

I've been working 50 hour weeks with a couple (three finally this year) week long vacations a year ever since I fell in love with the sport. My schedule is back and forth though with days, nights, and various days of the week. If I get out at 5 I squeeze in a quick round. If I don't work till 330 I have tons of golf time before work. And otherwise my "weekends" are always golf available.

That sounds sorta like my schedule! I work at a power , you?

This is because you live there.

Does that really count? If I was homeless I would score 6-8 more rounds in a week.

So jealous of having a house and a sandwich.

I work about 45 (9-6ish) hours a week with a 1 to 2 hour commute each way depending on the traffic. The damn ryan is horrible and I go through the 3rd worst bottleneck in the country twice a day. During the summer life was great, I could disc after work. It was the only thing that could really "reset" me, complete the day. Now by the time I get home it feels like I have to go to sleep for some reason. lol I'm also pretty paranoid about busting my leg again so snowy/icy/sometimes rainy conditions are unfavorable to me. I already feel a bit of a rut coming on, definitely going to be a long winter

The most I can say is try to find something else that you can do to keep yourself active. I sometimes sit at a computer almost all day and I can tell you I start to feel the curl, so I joined a gym. At the moment I pretty much play on the weekends, and even then I never want to travel very far because I can't stand being in the car anymore. It's almost more about getting as many throws in as I can with my allocated time. Practice basket is also a good idea for sure.
