Longest throwers in Disc Golf (Pros)

I know Avery hit 840' one year in warmups the day before Big D.

Here's a little on the course distance throw from Drew Gibson.

Both Wiggins and Lizottes records were Blizzard Bosses. Sandstrom's was with a DX Valkyrie, Jarvis' was with a DX Teebird.

I just checked the innova teampage. And i states that Brinster haven't thrown over 600... However, the time of update on that excat information, i don't know.

A bit of more research has made the list look like so

1. Lizotte (863)
2. Wiggins (836)
3. GG (803)
4. Beast (739)
5. Shoestrings (707)
6. Jenkins (695)
7. Big Jerm (693)
8. Gibson (620)
9. KJ (603)
10.

Anyone got more long throwers with backed-up numbers?? :)

The post right above yours has confirmed 739 from Alex G. unless you are calling Alex a beast. how come people keep putting up lists and leaving him off where there are like 5 posts stating that he threw 739 in the USDGC distance championship.

Alex G is an amazing talent and he could easily be one of the biggest arms in the world if he was able to tour. He is the best kept secret in Minnesota, but with his win at the distance competition at the USDGC he might not be a secret anymore! Played with him in leagues and cannot believe the cannon he has. He has the talent to be a top 10 disc golfer in the world.

Hopefully he gives me the credit for letting him use my magical guest bedroom the night before the distance event.

I see no one has mentioned Nate Doss wasn't he a distance record holder once upon a time?

when talking true distance you have to completely forget about the bogus "distance records" that they do out in the desert. those are all false distances that are boosted by wind and elevation.

having said that, Gurthie has always been a bomber, same with Avery. anybody that says Avery was never a true distance thrower doesn't know what they are talking about. he has throw 590' on flat ground and at sea level, some of these other guys you have on the list like mcbeth for example has never done that. Until they start doing distance competitions under controlled conditions there will never be a way to really know who throws what and how far. right now they are all a joke at best.

It was in Portland, OR back when all I used to do was try and throw far but you right.... Just a joke at best 👍🏽

:hfive:

Your timing on these threads is always superb, it just makes it look like you've been sitting back quietly laughing at the speculation as the threads unfold before throwing in a quick bit of trolling for fun. Love it.

In all seriousness though, give yourself a stack of discs (what would you throw?) Open flat field, no wind, what distance do you think your furthest would touch down throwing distance lines? and come to that how far would the worst one go?

Do you fancy on a nice still day in the off season filming yourself doing just that to put the debate to rest? Or next time you're filming something with Ian and the CCDG team go and do it with them?

Are we talking about desert tailwind distance Or real tournament distance with accuracy. Because then we definitely need to talk about McBeth and Schusterick as well.

The one I see that is missing is Christian Sandstorm, his record throw is stamp on a Valkyrie. 820 feet

Yeah, every time I've ever thrown a Valk I'm always thinking in the back of my mind "how the hell did he do that?!"

Dude...the Jarvis brothers are something to watch. Relatively small in stature, slight builds, but so smooth with crazy arm speed. To throw a DX Teebird over 800 ft.!!!

So true and form well worth watching - https://vimeo.com/105311279

When he threw over dem dere mountains..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58FvYp70yfY

(apparently he threw quarter K's over 800' a few times in New Zealand...)

One day soon I'm going to persuade him to fly over to the UK from Ireland for a tournament or two...

Really, need to separate accurate distance and all out (desert, 360 form, etc.).

In golf I think they actually have a stat for that.

Plenty of guys who throw further than the top pros but are more all out distance specialists than accurate throwers.

Not actually playing with him. But hearing about graceful, accurate distance would be steve brinster.

Don't rely on player stat info. for distance comparisons. It is based on recorded not actual.

For example. Put a bunch of big distance dogs on a dead flat field in humid dead air on hot a summer day. Perhaps the field may actually rise a bit rather than be dead flat as well. Almost guarantee no one is going to break 600 feet.

So if a guy is throwing over 500 feet in these conditions it could very easily equate to 700 feet in other optimal conditions (i.e. desert wind comps).

Robbie Olson here in Milwaukee, WI is easily up there. He has a 700'+ arm, he won the Vibram Open Distance Competition 2 or 3 years ago againt Avery. He hasnt gone to do any big distance competitions every but he has talked about it.

After watching Geisinger throw, I think he could hit 600 in your scenario (if not others like Simon, Drew Gibson).

In regards to accurate distance, Schusterick is pretty redic.

I see no one has mentioned Nate Doss wasn't he a distance record holder once upon a time?

Yeah, Doss is no slouch. I love watching Lizotte and McBe4st crush drives, (as expected) then old man Nate comes and sneaks this super smooth - almost slow mo Z Force just as far as the young guys. Then giggle as he walks off the tee. Such a happy guy. Love 'em!

I'm the same age as Nate and I know I've lost distance in the last 10 years. I would love to see him throwing at 21.
