I've always thought the bottle holders were a real let-down bordering on unacceptable on a otherwise excellent bag. I'm curious too.

THey have not changed it. It looks like the holder for the retriever is pulling it open more. Also the drink holders are the same.

It's my carolina bag alone with the scabbard (light weight frame) which holds the scepter (used to retrieve discs) and umbrella.

And if that something was to break then the scepter would would be useless. Whereas if you're applying pressure (little pressure) like it is now then at least it eliminates that possibility It works great and is very handy considering I practice a lot.
