[Discmania] Power Driver Freak PEEDEE Thread

I want to grab myself another PD. Which run are the best?

I think the PD is awesome in S and C-Line plastic. I was using a early run patent number S-Line before i lost it in some ridiculous rough.

Absolutely loved that disc though, very straight flying disc with a little bit of fade at the end. If you play in places that get a lot of wind, definitely pick up a C-Line, the one in my bag is in JL plastic, just a tick more overstable than my S-Lines when thrown flat.

I throw the P-Line some also, I've found that over 350 ft it's got a lot more lateral movement than I expected, but it's also taken a few hits - so it might just break in very quickly. Didn't do a thorough enough search and didn't feel like rummaging through close to 200 pages of PD talk to see if anyone else had the same experience. But, if I don't put a decent mount of air under it or if there's not enough open space for it to work out of it's turn, it won't fade out.

All that to say... C-Line and S-Line are both awesome...

The midgrade plastic will wear faster, glide better, and be generally less stable.

My workhorse is my P-PD. Firm, grippy, durable blend of pro (the current production ones). I've started to wear the stamp off mine and it's still stable in calm conditions. I wouldn't throw it in a headwind or on a flex line, and on a low line power drive it turns some and lands straight where my S Line holds flat and fades.

As for the C-Lines, I'm thankful to the Discmania store for separating the runs! I really like the JL CPD I got for FH shots and for being a trooper in windy conditions where I don't quite need a Firebird.

The S-Lines are the best. Aside from the CFRs, the various runs of C-Lines are just a headache to keep up with, and they don't really fly as well as the S-Lines.

I like the S-Lines a lot as well. I had a C-PD I picked up about 6 months ago and lost it. It flew so nice and had a good amount of glide yet was still very stable. My new C-PD is excruciatingly beefy and has very little glide. Utility driver at this point..

Sounds like the difference between the 3rd run C-Lines and the 1st/4th (JL) runs. The 3rd runs are flat and pearly looking and they fly straight with a very reliable fade. The 1st and Jolly Launcher 4th runs are pure beef and as you said, could be used as a utility driver or mean headwind driver.

I'm currently carrying a beat shield stamp S-Line for stable to understable duties, a 3rd run C-Line for that sweet, predictable PD flight, and a 4th run JL that acts as my utility driver. Sometimes I'll also carry, depending on the course(s), a beat P-Line that is a great roller, and a 4th run C-Line (not JL) that has a tiny bit of turn and good forward fade for straighter shots or big s-curves.

Nice man! They are really sharp looking in the blue. Let me know how yours flies. I got a couple of good rips on it last night and still couldn't get it to turn, or really stand up flat. Consistent forward moving long sweeping hyzers.

Threw it a half dozen or so times yesterday during a couple rounds. Found it to have almost as much glide as my beat PPD with a similar flight to my beat Champystar SPD. Maybe a touch more LSS.

Definitely need some field tests side by side my other PD's but so far I'm pretty taken with the feel, look and preliminary flight of it.

I just got my silver and black gPDs in the mail today  they are beautiful. The silver is insanely pearly and sparkly like everyone else has said. I cannot wait to get out today and give them a toss.

I got an order of various PDs Monday and was able to throw one of the G-line PDs (silver, 170) yesterday at my home course. I've been throwing a very beat P-line Freak for a while, and just recently caught the PD bug.

First throw was backhand into a slight headwind, it stayed straight as a laser for a 350' drive. Its def not super OS right out of the bag, but you do have to put plenty of snap on it. GOOD grip on this plastic.

I had several more successful throws before I botched a sidearm drive and it took a nose dive into the parking lot. It was ghastly, probably as bad as if it was Pro plastic. I peeled some of the shreds off, and when I rubbed the stubborn dirt off with a rag, it actually smoothed the plastic out the same way as if you used carpet, as some people do to wear flashing and burs off the rim instead of sandpaper.

So I'm happy it smoothed out, but I would have to guess this G-Line/GStar is going to wear in pretty quickly if some hearty scrubbing with a wash rag can wear it down. Of course, that has pros and cons, some like their discs beat in that way. I'll probably end up using this disc for tailwinds as it wears down. I haven't had much experience with either G plastic or Freaks, but I love this mold and its varieties.

This GPD feels and flies a lot like my very seasoned red champystar DGR stamped PD. It's maybe a touch softer but not much. Still have to get it some side by side flights to confirm but I'll be happy if these GPDs turn out to be an out of the box replacement for my champystar. Even if it doesn't stay in the sweet spot for as long, it'd be nice to have a replacement to use while I beat in a backup champystar.

Perfect! I had read that they fly like a seasoned S PD somewhere else as well. I would like something that flies like a new flatter flexy P PD (like the Pink P DGR ones). It's sounding like that exactly what they are.

What are the DGR stamped ones? Can anyone post a pic? And also, how does one come by a champystar? My understanding is that champystar discs are just Star discs that happened to have more Champion plastic in the mix, and come out having some translucency. But if there is a way to acquire one that isn't TOO much more expensive, I'd like to know....

Look at post 1775. Lots of DGR stamps in that pic. Champystar discs don't really carry much of a premium. Just put up a wanted thread for one.

Champy star is more of a preference thing. I find it beats up a little quicker and a little more for the PD, making it flip eventually.

DGR PDs were PDs that Mark at Disc Golf Values ran for me as a fundraiser for Disc Golf Review when he used to be the US distributor for Discmania. They all have this stamp on them.

Because we have run over 500 over the course of fundraising, I've seen a lot of different plastic variations on the PDs from 2010 to 2012. The 2 getting referenced here are the Champystar (in red 90% of the time; you can see through it), and the Softer P (which I haven't seen run since the first couple of runs).

And for a little PD porn, here is the only partytime colored CFR DGR PD stamped.
