[Discraft] 2011 Ace Race Putter

Out of 50, 45 black and 5 orange. The original order was all black, and we ordererd 10 extra 5 black, 5 orange

Anyone who had to put big hyzer on the release to make it fly has major technique issues. Maybe you've never realized it before.

this isn't entirely true, some colors were more flippy than others and if you got a few rough hits with the pro-d it definitely got a little flippy.

I have a pretty clean throw, my pro-d didn't get flippy until after the ace race but it is hard to throw now.

True, I should've limited my comment to the ESPs. I was thinking more (day of event) where the disc shouldn't get beat up enough to require the big Hyzer release. My ESP is a tank though. Been throwing a lot of putteronly rounds on the gravel fairways at my home course and there's not been any visible flight change yet.

Well I finally get to report on how it flew for me.

Good disc, easy to throw and forces you to throw clean. I traded my Pro-d for a ESP after 3 throws.
Threw a 175-76 ESP for all 46 holes. Biggest issue I had was judging height, went 2-4 inches over 12 baskets right on line with the pole. Really could get used to it for a driving putter, but ill never move the wizards out of the bag.

So what is the ideal distance range for our Ace Race tee-baskets? 80-120' or 100-140', or what? For maximum fun and reasonable aces.

I would say1-3 holes in the 75-80 the rest make them 95-160. I got bored throwing straight at a basket 80' ahead of me.

We put ours 90'-130' and there were plenty of ace runs and aces.

This disc was not a bad flyer for me personally. I was expecting a really flippy uncontrolable disc but I was suprised and thought it was great for an ace race. Idk if I could personally us it as a putting putter but it glides a long way with very little effort, so as an upshot disc it might find a place in my bag. Although I like my meteor a little better.

I can't throw a full run up and likely don't throw over 150' feet with my wizards so i'm not the best putter thrower so take what i say how you will.

There were guys at our Ace Race who threw this 300+ ft...

As for acceptable distance for an Ace Race...Nothing over 200' and you will be fine. Anyone throwing the Pro-D plastic is in for a long disappointing day.

I found the Pro-D easier to throw, it felt a little stiffer in the middle than the ESP. Both discs are great for catch, amazing glide, ESP a little softer. We had 130 people at our Ace Race in San Marcos, CA, and booyah I hit the first ace of the event on my 5th throw! I think we had about 10 aces total and we also count metal hits.

I really liked how it flew, but the damn thing would not stick in the chains for me. Hit center height, maybe just a hair to the right of the chains and it fell down, and then hit center chains, maybe a hair high and it plopped straight down again. On my 2nd to last hole I just caught the top of the basket. Sucks because 1 ace and 1 metal one so if either of those chains had stuck then I would have won :(

So it was you who hit the hole 5 ace to start the day..
Nice job.

I think that hole was the easiest of the 9. Pretty much just a putt.
