I'm pretty sure that the ad is hyperbolic. They know golf isn't dead, they're just saying that whatever it is they're gonna do is gonna kill it (hyperbolically). Golf is still THE sport for hobnobbing with the spiffy important people, the sports for business hookups and the like. It's declining a bit, but no more than any thing else in a bad economy. At the pro level, golf has lost the biggest star they've had in a long while and haven't recovered (while Tiger is still there he's never been the same since his hiatus).
Disc golf probably fares better in a bad economy, once you have your disc it's pretty cheap to play if you don't lose them or have to replace them.

That may be sensational and vague . . . but they make very good points. Disc golf could be so much better than golf from an environmental perspective. We need to celebrate what makes out sport and its courses great. In my opinion it is true clearcutting on golf is not ideal, the earth moving including the fuel needed is expensive and harms the environment, while disc golf takes those unusable parcels of land, and basically plants a tee and a basket in the ground. Sure some clearing needs to be done but it is usually buckthorn, honeysuckle, and invavsives. We only cut down unhealthy or weak trees if at all possible.
We should be proclaiming that this is what is good about our sport and working on fixing what is bad with our sport.

Why? I'm just curious as to what would make you expect so much? I expected just t-shirts with the skull design, the fact that there's discs and more is actually shocking to me.

The discs were shocking to me too, but to put up all these ads and banners building suspense like it's going to be something big, and the only have a design which they already leaked. I'm not an artistic person, but I could have came up with at least 1 more clever design...

I agree about the built up suspense, for it to only be a handful of essentially the same stuff.

meh they helped the site with a sponsorship, didn't really have too high of expectations, if it was big i think more would have been leaked. It seems that not too much gets past dgcr and dgr so if it was earth shattering we would have had some inclination as to what it was. I do agree hopefully this is that start for them or the end could be near as well.
I think most dg.companies have terrible names. Someone else brought up skate and bike companies. They have names like under ground production, empire, volcom, play, jinx. DG is on par with the stupid affliction and tap out in terms of naming. It seems like all dg shirts have a basket or the word disc, you don't see that on ska
