My disc golf buddies are old pros. They laser the disc out there or sky hyzer it for the hugest hit, I can get it down there but for outdriving these guys, I'm having to send some rollers down there.

Drive for show, putt for dough...

I just need to get it down there, far.

I use Star and Champ Roadrunners now, heavy as I can find them. 175g's are pretty easy to find in my favorite color but do they make them heavier?

I have to throw Blizz 130's to get my farthest throws, if I snap it right, I can stay up with them. I just don't have the speed or power.

I'm an Innova guy, is there a better rolling disc than the RR'r? I can control it ok, get it to stand up or turn over depending on how I throw it.

I found a 177g and can really tell the difference between 160g and 175g for distance, the heavier disc just plows through and retains energy just keeps going. The lighter discs just slow down faster.

Looking for some thoughts on weight (is more better) or ways to wring out the roll.

175 is max marked weight on roadrunners, I throw fh rollers with rr , and leopards.

Wider rims are [usually] better for distance rollers, due to the weight being primarily on the outside of the disc. I don't **** around with high speed Innova stuff, so that decision is up to you lol..

As for weight, yes max (175) will roll farther than its 150class counterpart.

Condor.

/thread

Seriously though, if you want a rad roller, get yourself a Condor. Hard to find these days in shops, but still easy to find online. My dad throws one for big D. Sometimes he won't even use a thumber. I have seen him throw his 190 Condor out 100 feet and roll another 200, including a wild cross-country over some gravel.

I got a tourney-stamped one from the CO State Championships (tourney stamped Condor, how could I not buy three? LOL) and have been working it into my bag. They're cheap too.

I primarily use a beat champ sidewinder for BH rollers because it turns over so readily. I also have a couple of first run, baby blue illusions that I'm working into the bag. Those things roll forevvvvvver when I can get them to stand up, but they aren't quite beat in enough yet. Nikko used these for rollers, not sure if he still has them in his bag or not.

The best way to get max D on a roller is to keep them in the air for as long as possible while still getting the disc to turn over enough. The longer it is on the ground the more the friction slows the disc. As for disc selection, look for one that has a symmetrical rim. In other words, if you split the rim down the middle, there would be nearly equal halves. This helps the disc to stand up straight and keep rolling. The baby blue illusions have a nearly perfect symmetry to the rim.

I've tried rolling A LOT of different discs, including the condor. Oddly enough the disc I found to be the best (for me) are Cheetahs. I for some reason haven't tried to roll any cheetah other than the 11x KC Pro, but they work wonders for me. Incredibly predictable IMO.

I love my ESP Avenger SS for BH rollers. Sky it out on a big anny line and watch it go.

RR is my primary roller disc (BH for distance). If im attempting to go farther than like 450, id step up to a disc with a wider rim. it will roll farther, easier. They will also take torque better than a smaller rim disc in general. Sidewinder (not really a bigger rim, but its a touch more stable than a RR, same with a TD) Surge SS, Vision (i think its got a bigger rim, not for sure tho), beat wraith, mamba, really any disc will work, it just takes a different throw. Most people prefer understable discs or beat up discs because theyre easier to make do this shot. ( I agree )

Innova wants you to believe that the Sidewinder is the best roller disc, so take a look at that. If Innova is full of crap and just trying to market? Well, that's what they do. My Champ Sidewinder is a roller for me FH, but the flippiest disc I own (see: easiest to roll) is my Opto Fuse.

Fuse will roll a long way.

I wonder if a max weight FD will roll a ways. Mine is a C-Line and too hard to get turned over now.

I don't use rollers a lot. But as others have said... I use a 175 Sidewinder for max distance and a beat in DX Cheetah for more controlled distance. These two work the best for me.

I almost lost the Sidewinder on a practice field once when as it was turning over at towards the end of its' roll it left the grass and onto the road. It then proceeded to keep on going down a hill. Hard to describe how ridiculous it was.

I find stable discs roll better for me. Hold a straigter line longer.

Z Zone - straight line bulldozing
CPD - distance
Pure - shorter range accuracy

I think the avenger SS might be the best roller I've thrown. I know visions can be rolled, but i prefer throwing huge annies with them. I feel like the avenger ss will roll if you don't land it very close to flat, whereas the vision won't roll unless you really land it anhyzered.

Me too. I roll a Vector, and sometimes a Condor. Problem is the Condor is so big in the bag it often gets left behind.

IMHO. If you want to roll something....go bowling.

Rollers in DG should be outlawed at ANY level of play.

Again, IMHO.
