Favorite Understable Mid

Searched for this subject and didn't find much of value to me.

I was wondering what, if any, understable mid range people like to use for hyzer flips and turnover shots?

I have a DX Roc that I'm trying to season into a turnover, but find it's fighting out at the end of the flight. I've been using a Magic putter on shorter holes and appreciate the flip and gentle turn over it provides. I'm looking for a mid range with more distance and a similar flight pattern.

The closest thing I carry is a Comet. However, I don't feel that it's the US mid I'm seeking. Instead, it's just very neutral (or "stable") and tends to hold lines and not very responsive to power. Great for the woods, but not what i'm looking for.

I'm looking for something I can release at 7-8 o'clock hyzer with power, have it flip up, fly straight, and turn over. Or, power it down, have it flip up and straight, and fade out.

Long story short, I'm wondering what disc folks use for this type of shot?

I'm considering maybe a Meteor (ESP or LE Z), Kite or Stingray (DX or Star), Tournament Tauras, other options like BuzzzSS or Tangent perhaps? Let me know what you think.

The Flying Squirrel from ABC is my favorite. Great plastic, consistent flight, tons of glide, and very little low speed overstability you get from the more popular understable mids. I've seen them hold turns on shots ranging from 200'-375'. Thanks to their glide they're also hyzer flip machines.

Much like your situation, it's the disc that replaced Comets in my bag. It opened up a lot more options in terms of turns.

SSSSSSTingray. I have 4 in the bag... Champion (beat), Champion (pretty straight), Star blunt nose (rare, pretty flippy), and of course, the not flippy dead sexy straight Super Stingray.

the kite is my favorite understable mid, it just glides for days

Tangent. I never had a disc perform exactly how I needed it starting with its first throw. I pulled the Meteor and Buzzz SS out of the bag because of it.

Discraft Glide is what I use. I know this is not listed as a mid, but its barely faster than a mid. It is probably the slowest fairway driver from discraft. A lot of meteors have dome and I am not a fan of dome. The glide comes out much flatter which is the main reason its in my bag. Also you dont have to pay $20 to get a glide in Z plastic.

I've tried: Buzzz SS, Meteor, Star Stingray, Fuse, Tursas. And then went back to the Star Stingray. The tiny rim takes some adjustment, but it's perfect for turnovers and u/s utility shots where you can't move a lot. I get a floaty hyzer shot where otherwise I wouldn't be able to do much but pitch out. Mine's pretty beat up and it hasn't become uselessly overstable.

Fuse. Assuming heavier weight and new:
Opto will be pretty much dead straight, will beat into what you described
GL / Recyced: for me, exactly what you described out of the box (I max about 400' with drivers - 380 golf D)

For me, the Tangent is straight-to-neutral...not quite the turn monster I would like it to be. If I need something to turn, I am reaching for a Gold Line Fuse.

X-R Putter, X-Comet, X-Stratus, X-Xpress, X-XS. From less to more power. All hyzer flip and hold a line when the right power is applied.....for me anyway.
