I'm looking for a putter to use exclusively for driving

Something that will handle a lot of snap/power without turning over

I already bag a Harp and Pig, so .... something slightly less beefy than those molds?

I'm leaning Caltrop/Sinus at the moment

i have a champ p3, and it's not doing it for me :( still gets flippy at times and doesn't seem to handle wind that well- the Harp and Pig can obviously be ripped on and not turn over for me-

I also prefer a beadless feel for a FH grip option

Any other suggestions?

Thank you all for your input!

Proxy/envy can both be mashed as hard as one can throw and show no turn, or at the very most like a couple inches of lateral movement before fading. Pa-4 is a good option if you don't like gyro. The proxy/envy have a bead but it's so dang small it's almost impossible to notice
Edit: got beat to it

Yeah, you want an Envy. I didn't know I wanted an Envy until I got one, and now I don't know what I would do without it.

Envy is definitely what you want. I've seen people throw them well past 300' IRL, and if the vids are to be believed they'll go 400' without turning over. What's crazy is how consistent that flight is over power rangers. I can only throw mine about 250' and it still flies dead straight with just a minimal fade for me, or even powered down on a 150' approach shot.

I forth these other guys. Envy 100%. The best driving putter ever made IMHO. The only reason I am not bagging one at the moment is that it got tough for me to range, I would over throw on a short approach shot, so I went with something slower.

I've been down this road, and the Envy took the spot after trying many putters for driving. I currently use the Pure for straight to US drives, and the Envy when I need to power up and not flip over.

What plastic is your Harp? I use a BT Hard that goes dead straight when I rip it. I have yet to turn it over. A harder plastic, like VIP, might be too overstable, as that disc is a meathook, already. So, in conclusion, maybe you already have the disc you need, you just need it in a softer plastic, or, maybe, I am just looking for another reason to champion the Harp because I think it rocks! Hated it when I first bought it, didn't get the hype, but have grown to really appreciate all the stuff it can do.

I'll suggest something a little different and say the Serpent. Dead nuts straight and can handle power very well.

It is shorter then an Envy though.

I went through this search last winter. I agree that the P3, while a good disc, just didn't get what I wanted. I also tried beaded as well as beadless discs.

I found that the Opto Pure, Lucid Judge, and Supersoft Wizard did the best jobs for me as driving putters. If DD will ever come out with a true Lucid or stock Fuzion Warden, you'd have your answer in a beadless putter. The new Marshal is micro-beaded, and might work well as a driver, but I haven't tried it as a driver yet.

I also use a TP Harp and Star Stud. IMHO, after the Star Stud gets seasoned in, it might not be as good off the tee as you'd like. My TP Harp is something of a meathook, but other Harps might not be so much.

Last but not least is the Envy. Yes, it could well be your answer when driving, i.e. when thrown full power off the tee. I've said before in other threads that I am not a fan of MVP/Axiom when it comes to powering down throws, but since you're asking about driving, the Envy might be your solution.

Discmania P2 in s line and d line for me. If you are finding P3s understable it may be time to take a look at form because OAT is basically the only thing that would make them flip unless you are absolutely mashing them or throwing them into a strong headwind. An S line P2 is plenty stable for me IMO.

How far are you throwing putters with all that snap/power? Sounds like a field session with Aviars/Magnets/any other slow, neutral putter may be just what the doctor ordered.

Envy and potentially proxy for no fade.

I have both Proxy and Envy. FWIW I prefer the Proxy as driving putter because it doesn't have any fade... so more useful overall - will also hold anhyzer. I also think it powers down better. I also prefer it for forehand shots because to me the Envy can get a little squirrely with it's lateral movement whereas Proxy is just easier to dial in for forehand: slight hyzer and it goes straight. I could use Proxy for every shot and do well. Envy and Proxy are fairly similar difference is mostly in the low speed portion of the flight. Proxy for me though... favorite disc in my bag.

I also had a Lat Pure but Proxy is definitely easier to throw at full power / less sensitive to any form mistakes.

Neither the Envy or Proxy are "beefy" at all though if u want that... but high powered throwers throw these just fine.

Good luck

hypothetically, if I go with the Envy, which plastic tends to be more OS, Proton, Neutron or Plasma?

They're pretty darn close, but I think proton occasionally molds up more OS. It's really based on preference. I prefer soft Neutron because it literally doesn't seasons, and when I hit a tree it doesn't bounce too far off of it, just kinda flops to the ground.

I agree.

You've been playing less than a year and unless you're some freak of athletic nature and your Simon Lizotte, my guess is your doing something a bit off.

If you're crushing putters 350-400ft, disregard my statements and carry on.
