[Mids] RDG Croc: Stable Mid-Range

Is that the Blackbird/#3 Hookshot? If it is

picture.php

It is ;)

I'm holding out until the dog poop swirl blends. :|

Im not saying it will, but between Prehistoric, Fossil and (maybe, eventually) I could see this knocking out my Rocs. Thats a BIG maybe because Ive been Rocing it (see what I did there?) for so long, but the potential is certainly there...especially since RDG takes up a good amount of space in my bag already.

The toughest part wont be deciding if I will buy the Croc...it will be how many Crocs will I initially buy?

I LOVED the SR-71 Blackbirds back in the day. Nice call!

I think the only reason I stopped throwing them was that one day Davey Mac kept pulling discs out of my bag and asking "what's this for?" "why do you have this and an X-Clone?" yada yada yada. By the end of the night he had talked me into an Aviar/Roc/Cyclone/X-Clone bag and I stopped throwing a lot of discs I really liked.

I think they translate well to the market today.

A little slower than most mid releases, a small head & a really comfortable, almost chunky grip.

I love the Croc and I look forward to getting these bad boys into the hands of Lightning newbies

Honestly, if I was in your shoes and had the ability to bring some of these back I'd be worried about the big diameter discs. A lot of those bad boys were "drivers" with 22+ cm diameters. I'm not sure if the game has a place for those anymore.

But whatever...you sold Stegos. I think you can sell anything!

I think there is some real potential there with the under 22 cm diameter discs like the Blackbird, the Bearcat, the B-25, the F-15 Eagle, the #2 Hyzer and the #2 Upshot. Those are solid molds that would stand up in today's game and somebody marketing them again should work.

Maybe even the Spitfire? It's big (legal to 185g I think) but it's the n00best disc ever. You can throw that thing nose up all day and the big diameter just sort of smooths it out and it glides out for a nice throw. When I started it was the only disc I could throw; everything else went straight up and then hard left. It was teh n00bsaver!

The #2 Driver was the F-15 Eagle, it's a really really ancient mold. It's a bit of a mid top/fairway driver wing hybrid with a Cyclone-ish diameter. It was always a longer Roc. People wouldn't throw them because of the stupid disc golf politics of the day, but they were missing out. It was a great disc. And...it floated. :p

I dunno bout the "politics" of the matter but my first bag was a #2 driver, classic roc, and birdie (pre-thumbtrac). I could throw the #2 over 200 feet which was impressive at the time.

I never had to test it's floatability.

Large diameter revolution!

honestly more people need to get back to throwing them. I think a lot of games would improve.

Sweet!

I love it when the "big dogs" of the site get excited for a new release.

Please say this is going to have the classy Gator stamp on it

The Croc is a stable mid-range capable of being cycled into various stages of wear.

The mold is an old school design with a smooth dome and a small beaded wing.
Players will find solid resistance to turn when powered up & comfortable finish.

The Croc is to be molded by one of the original manufacturers of our sport... LIGHTNING DISCS!

Awesome to see RDG partnering with Lightning  Love the throwback style!

Any chance you might do a run with some sort of flat-topping process?

I can't remember, did these have the same tapering flight plate where it starts really thick near the rim and thinner towards the center?

It should. The SR-71 did. It wasn't as crazy as the tapering on say the X-15's but it was there and noticeable.
