Exactly...with Innova making the first "move" publicly, it sounds even more like a prank to me. I'm still calling it as a Halloween "Trick" for sure.

Regardless of disc sponsor, I strongly believe McBeast will be carrying a Grip bag again. My evidence is the Nicholas Carl 'In the Bag' that Paul shared where Nicholas mentions having Paul's loaned 3x bag with plans to give it back to him.

People in here acting like Innova would do this for kicks, as a Halloween "trick," sorely underestimate the backlash that would come from messing with their fans.

Yes, they do April Fools. But Halloween tricks...aren't really a thing, other than when kids come to your door. Innova more than likely got tired of seeing rumors floating around and wanted to set things straight in a respectful fashion, which they absolutely did.

If McBeth really does switch to Discraft I predict bad times for him. It will be a testiment to his greatness if he can go into a single sponsor situation like that and do as well or better. The disc lines are just so completely different. In my opinion Discraft discs plain fly differently than Innova. Decades of muscle memory won't be easy to overcome.

So in other words I hope he gets up front money

On the business side, I am also unsure how much better he will do. The custom discs don't sell merely because they have a name on them. The KC Pro Roc never sold a single disc because of the name. It was because either the mold was already good and the only one available was a pro model (champ teebirds) or the new pro model substantially changed the disc in some way (McPro Aviars).

If McBeth thinks he can slap his name on a Nuke and sell thousands by default I think he will be sorely disappointed. Of course if Discraft comes out with new molds or variations for him it could work out (although I question whether Discraft will have any ROI from the McBeth name stamped on them vs selling the new disc hype).

Absolutely. But this isn't quite the same thing. In the case of other athletes, you're recruiting eyeballs to the tube. In this case, you're making sales. LA got a lot of eyeballs for their acquisition of Zlatan. Discraft doesn't want eyeballs, they want to sell plastic. You're not gonna sell plastic based on Paul's performance with Innova products.

No, they do not fly any differently. They're all round pieces of plastic. They are governed by the same physics Innova is.

Dave and Jussi are very different people.

At first yes. It's his future performance that will make the impact for his new sponsor. They have faith in Paul, why wouldn't they? It could go sideways though. That's why I said, Paul got the better end of the deal.

I agree with this to a point. Innova loves to have fun, but I'm seeing this on a lot of websites, except there is nothing on the PDGA's website. Something this big would be front and center there. Innova's official is not, offical-offical.

Discraft recently hired a new Marketing/Social Media person.

If I had to guess, you will see a big push early in the new year.

Agree. Innova has the best ads by far in my opinion. I think all the other companies should take note. (their print ads are nice, though.)

Their flight charts stink, no really, they do, and the resistance to go to the Innova flight numbers, because it was Innova, was a mistake.

Sure was. I don't think that was their reasoning, but at any rate, they have them now.
