[Question] Your LEAST favorite "new to you" disc you tried in the last 6 months

no love even to the pd

Hipster Teebird? Na. I tried like 6 different ones and couldn't tell where any of them were going to land. OrionLF is the one true "control driver" (hate that term).

It was a domey glidey bomber then I threw it about 50 times and it was a speed 13 roller LOL, don't really need that. Nothing against the mold just not for me

Was your Katana champ? Star? Pro? DX? I've had the best luck in champ, though they still vary tremendously.

For me, maybe the Z Archer? I've only threw it a few times. I got it trying to fill an X Stratus spot in my bag, and it just didn't have the same turn or glide. It had too much overlap with a Buzzz or Meteor. I'll get back to it at some point.

I decided to try a Sirius Astra misprint from Marshall Street right around 12 months ago. No good, especially when I have some other speed 10-12s that are just too good. Star Beast, ESP Surge, and Champ Tern.

I'm sure there are more...

In my one year of disc golf, there have only been two molds that I found to be useless. DD Renegade and Axiom Defy.

The Renegade is the flippiest mold I've thrown, and that's coming from someone who bags a couple Tursas and a Hatchet. Unless I threw it like a putter it would turn into a roller (and an inconsistent one, at that). It was ridiculous how little power it would accept.

The Defy flies like a Photon with a quicker dumpier fade. The problem is that it's marketed as a "heavily beat" Photon, and it absolutely is not that.

Star, I am very selective about champ plastic.

Agree on the Renegade. Absolutely horrible disc. I could give the thing 50% power and it'd still find a way to flip. At least with a Freedom you can get some distance before it flips. A Renegade isn't very long.

GM Gremlin - why does this thing exist?

Z Mantis - bought 2 of them, looking for something to compliment my Saint Pro, Tbird and TL. It's probably just me, but they don't seem to have any glide.

The Rat - not a bad disc per se, it's just a straight low profile putter. Doesn't seem to have any other tricks.

Renegade - I got one of these used and I usually hold onto Trilogy stuff for trade bait but it was so flippy I just sold it back to the store for a loss. :|

The Rask - Ugh, this rim is just so weird. I can't get used to it.

I'm still trying to figure out if I like the Deflector or not. It's as advertised, which is good, but I'm just not a beefy mid guy so trying to adapt. It does have a rim profile that takes to flicking and FH rollers okay.

From the other thread:

Lucid Gummy Convict: A player's pack special. Who the hell wants a driver that's overstable in normal conditions but acts flippy in a headwind? How does that even happen?
Classic SuperSoft Warden: Like throwing a handful of jello. OOP for a reason
Star Caiman: I had high hopes that this would be a longer Harp. It's nowhere near as reliable.

I forgot about the Convict, but if I had it would've been on my naughty list for the same reason that you gave. Especially now that DD has the Getaway I have no idea why anyone would throw Convicts. And yes, it is abundantly strange how easily they flip in a headwind while being OS in nearly every other situation. Very weird disc and not in a good way.

I bought a misprint z mantis thinking I was getting an understable driver, and it came board flat and was the most overstable disc I have ever thrown. I can throw about 400 and I couldn't get that thing to go over 250 on a crazy flex line. I think mine was an oddity, but I am weary to try another.

hipster tb homie wtf when those things came out it was like jesus risen around these parts just about everyone on dgcr was throwing the pd and no one in real life (that wasnt also on dgcr) hahahaha

i have a zippertop red olf somewhere those discs ruled too except finding different runs didnt rule so i stopped throwing innova/discmania/mill altogether

I kinda agree on the Convict. In calm conditions it was nice to throw. Any sort of headwind it would flip immediately. Not reliable at all. I tend to stay away from flippy fairway drivers. I want to throw them hard without worrying about flipping.

The Longbowman is a much better disc, IMO.

Absolutely. I toss a Getaway for that shot simply because the Escape is my workhorse FW and the Getaway is essentially just a high PLH Escape, but the Longbowman fills the slot admirably as well. Culverin is a reasonable option also. Trilogy has plenty of glidey OS fairways, and the Convict is by far the most finicky of them. Hence why I have no idea why anyone would throw Convicts, since even "Trilogy only" players have a ton of better options available.

I'm not even really a DD thrower. I'd rather toss a Teebird or Thunderbird. The Longbowman was the first fairway driver I've tried from trilogy that I actually liked. Escape is way too understable. I had to put a lot of hyzer on it to keep it straight. Convict is OK. If I were a sponsored player by them I'd probably find a slot in the bag for it. For rudimentary fairway driving I still prefer something beefier though.
