Course Baggers

I ain't got time to write all them reviews--- I'm playing courses...

I would rate them without writing a review if that was an option. I have them all rated by the DGCR system on my personal Excel file.

As a side note, I'm currently at 2,046. A month from now I'll be at 2,200+. It's go time!

That's exactly what I expect from you 4 digit Baggers, with The Valkyrie Kid being the only exception, with over 1500 reviews written!

I'm kind of the opposite, I spend more time online then I do on the course! :(
I keep an Excel file too, great memories there.

Keep going, maybe I'll see you on a course some day.

I think the course baggers list needs updated. I know DekeGuff was over 2700 the last time I spoke with him and DerekTonn and cox3 are over 2000. Avery Jenkins and eric_vdberg are over 1600 and I've played 2204.

The "Top Baggers" link isn't even where to go to get the most accurate list on this website though. It only includes active courses played.

Go to Members>Browse Members>Find Members and sort by courses played. That provides accurate numbers. The only discrepancy then is if anyone doesn't have all their courses listed/marked as played on here.

Casey, I am the self-appointed keeper of The Course Collectors List. I make sporadic updates on Facebook.

Your 2046 ranks you as #4 on the list of Most Courses Played. Well done!

As the self-appointed "Keeper of the List" for the World Record* Most Courses Played, I have 5 players who have played over 2000 courses.

Tim Horvath 2400
Dan Kilgore 2152
Mike Erickson 2104
Casey Cox 2046
A. Lind?? 2020
Derek Tonn 2000+

DISClamer: I know that this list is out of date, and it probably changes every day.

It is the responsibility of players to contact me to update their totals. Posting numbers here on DGCR or on Facebook doesn't count, because I only check these sporadically. If you have played 1000+ courses then email me your updates to playdiscgolf (at) gmail.com

*As a self-reported record there are no agreed upon standards to confirm the accuracy of these numbers. The numbers reported depend on the integrity of the player. There are also no objective and universal standards for "What is a Course?" and "What does 'Played' mean?"

eric_vdberg are over 1600 and I've played 2204.
Eric V is at 1522 as of his last update to me. That puts him at #12 on the Official Top Course Collectors List

Dan what is your current number of courses played?

I will loosely try to update the "Official" list from this thread, but I won't guarantee it. Course Collectors need to update me via email (below). [No more than once/week please.]

Please email me periodic updates to playdiscgolf (at) gmail.com. (No more than 1/week please.)

Even better is using an MS Access database.

For a reasonable fee I will convert an Excel spreadsheet into to an MS Access database. Contact me if you want to explore this option.

(An Excel file is a "flat file" database and it is very limited and cumbersome to use and sort.)

I agree with PMay that you might as well start now to convert DGCR to Excel.
What happens if/when DGCR becomes extinct? You need to have control over your list and have it on your own computer.

Your list should be the Primary source that you update DGCR to as your secondary record.

that is a glaring concern

i still need to start a udisc account

i believe youre right thank you

Yeah, sadly for me and so many of us who have invested so much in DGCR since 2007 Udisc is in ascendance since it is phone based. DGCR is in decline. Udisc now has the most complete course directory and many new courses never make it to DGCR, so you need Udisc to find the most courses.

On the downside, Udisc has really blurred the distinctions on "What is a course?" and "What does 'Published' mean?" There are far too many 1-3 disc Practice Areas at someone's house or in a random field on Udisc. In addition, many of these courses are totally private and not playable.

Most new players since the 2020 Disc Golf Big Bang have never even heard of DGCR!

Dan said in his post that he's at 2,204.
Tim is at 2,772 on the site. He's been playing new courses at an insane rate.
Mike is at 2,115 on the site.
Derek is at 2,015 on the site.

Another downside of UDisc is that you cannot contact other Users. A UDiscer posted a map for a restricted access course near me, but I have no way to contact them to check on the possibilities of playing the course.
Another + for good 'ole DGCR!!

There are other database programs besides Access out there too. I keep mine in a cloud-based database tool called Airtable. I have access through my company currently but it's a small company and they don't care if I use it for this purpose on the side. Periodically I'll download my courses and reviews as a CSV file just in case for an extra backup.

UDisc does allow contact information if the course owner wants to provide it (but that's with the owner, not other players). I've used it to play a handful of private courses.

Where is that course? Is it in NC?

No, Bangor, ME. It's on the Air National Guard Base.
I can see 1 basket, but it is listed as an Object course. I drive past it just about every day, so am always looking for someone playing.

I ask just about everyone I see at other area courses to see if they know this person, a few possible leads but no contact yet.

Baggers gonna Bag!! :D
