I always loved the S plastic, especially the Demon. I love the original pencil eraser Wizards too. Also have a first run S Illusion that I still throw now and then. It's still overstable after about 5 yrs of beating and bending. So what of their newer stuff in the last few years? Did they ever make a driver that wasn't crazy overstable? I liked the Elements okay, but they never really replaced the Roc for me. I will still throw a Sabre now and then, but I can't really get distance out of them. They are like a longer Roc.

ive thrown all their discs and ive come to the conclusion that gateway is good for putters only, imho.:\

^^^^agreed.

I like the wizards. They have become my primary putter this year. The other gateway discs just collect dust in my garage. I'd be happy to sell/trade if you are interested. :)

I have a warrior that i really like but im not sure if i like it more then my buzzz yet or not. I also kind of like the apache i own, but they dont really have anything special other then their putters, but heads up for the different feels and stiffnesses with in the same plastic

Sabres are good discs, but they never replaced Cyclones for me.

Elements are pretty good, but there are a TON of "pretty good" stable mids. It really does not stand out. Same for the Element X/Warrior in the overstable mid category. Basically I'd say they are 'good enough" that you can throw them and be competitive, but not so good that I'd say you are missing out if you never tried them.

I can say similar things about most of their discs. Pretty good, but I end up throwing something else. Another problem is the inconsistency from run to run. You can pick up a Gateway disc you like, go back to look for another one a year later and find the plastic feels completely different and the disc flies nothing like the one you liked. Illusions have to be the most "all over the place from run to run" golf disc in history.

Other than their putters, they have some meathooks in the Demon, Speed Demon and Spirit. If you are looking for something REALLY overstable, those are discs that stand out. Personally I don't need anything that overstable.

Expand on this please.
Which discs would we be missing out if we never tried them?
Thanks in advance.

It seems as though we can all agree that Gateway has great putters. I agree with others the demon is a great utility disc i have thrown one for a few years now. I have thrown a Warrior as well which is a great long flying STABLE mid-range. In Oklahoma where the wind always blows these discs are great.

The problem i find with Gateway is that there plastic is sooo inconsistent. The seem to always be experimenting or changing little things, its impossible to find 2 discs in the same run of plastic. If they could find some type of consistency i think there disc would be much better. They have great potential and a good line up of discs they just need some tuning.

There are discs like the Roc, Buzzz, Cyclone, TeeBird, Firebird, and Predator that are really the standards in their class. I think people would be missing out if they didn't at least try them. There are other discs that I like a lot like the Aurora MS, Spider, Wildcat, etc., that are cool if you tried them, and might even end up in your bag. I just wouldn't feel like I'd missed anything if I had never thrown a Spider. The only Gateway disc I'd rate as one of the former is the Wizard. If you have never tried a Wizard, you need to. All of the rest of the Gateway discs I'd rate as the latter. I like a lot of them, but they don't seem to end up in my bag.

I have an Element... but it quickly was pulled from my bag because the damn thing is too heavy to get any decent distance.

I have a Magic SSS that I like, but seldom use. Since I bought my Vibram putters, I haven't used anything else...

is ti true that gateway putters are frequently inaccurately labeled? i.e. they will say super stupid soft but be rigid and vise versa?

Not really inaccurately labeled, but they do feel different. However, it should be noted that Gateway intentionally creates different runs of their plastic for the purpose of diversity. They believe this provides a greater variety of options to the golfer, rather than being stuck with two or three "standard" plastics.

Of course, if you are purchasing online, this can be a pain in the butt. However, if you have a good local shop that carries a healthy supply of Gateway putts, then you will grow to love the sheer amount of options within their lineup.

Other than the putters, the warrior, element, and demon molds are noteworthy. They seem to have consistant plastic runs.

Blazes overlap way too much with Demons. Spirits meat hook more than XXX's.

I have collected 6 apaches in hopes of finding one like my ultra gummy brown HPP i hand selected from Clearwater. My gummy HPP Apache is similar in shape and flight to strikers. I wish i could find more. This one is spectacular.

i have an Evolution Apache (peach color) that I love, however I also have a crystal clear Evolution Apache that I'm not that big a fan of. What I'm saying i guess is I really like the Apache, but only several runs ago in peach color, i've had 2 but lost one, both flew amazing
