How Far have you Traveled?

My buddies and I do a roadtrip each year and do nothing but play...usually between 4 and 5 days long. We have been to Cincy, Charlotte, Rochester, Central Kentucky, and most recently Mississippi and Alabama. Rochester was definitely the longest, but on that trip we ended up playing Banklick (which has now been renamed), Idlewild, Lake Moraine, Ellison Park, Baker Farm, Mt. Airy, and many other quality courses along the way. Great trip. According to google-maps that trip was 1660 miles...and well worth it.

I know it doesn't count for this discussion, but flying with your discs can be an adventure as well. I have a large portion of my family that lives in Maine. We flew there last summer and I was not going to leave my discs behind. So I loaded up my Innova Competition bag and that was my carry-on. Here in nashville it really was no big deal, but before the flight home (from Manchester, NH) I had to explain a lot about disc golf to the security inspectors. They had no idea that such a sport existed and at first thought that they might be contraband of some sort. At the time I was kind of freaked out, but now it is just funny.

The sad part is that family kept me so busy that I only got to play 1 course...but I intend to play more the next time I am there. Hopefully next year sometime.

i've flown to vegas from virginia to play a dg tournament. i've driven to michigan a few times to play as well. all long ago at this point.

recently i have a hard time playing anywhere outside spotsylvania county (where i live)- i do make the drive to paw paw once a year.

From Hastings,MN to Las Vegas... :D Actually from the Palace Station Casino to Sunset Park... Took a cab there, and walked aback to the casino(about 16.5 miles)...

I was in Panama City, Panama for work a few months ago. There is one course in Panama. It's in David. It's 275 miles from Panama City. Between my co-worker and I we figured out a way to create a "need" to fly the plane in to David, rent a car and get to the course so we could play before we had to leave the country and fly back to the states. It's actually not the farthest I've traveled (Cincinnati to San Jose, California) but it was the most coordination and creative planning that I've had to do to get a round in.

I'm in Costa Rica for work now but there's not a course here that I know of. Booooo.

The boyfriend, his roommate and I are flying to Seattle and then driving to Vancouver in a couple weeks. (recomendations, anyone?) We plan on playing a lot of disc golf. I hope we get to go at least once a day, but who knows. I drove to Florida this weekend for a wedding and brought my discs with me but there wasn't enough time. I really wanted to check out st. petersburg. I read on here that it was pretty awesome. Oh, and last summer we drove to Traverse City Michigan, which has an excellent course called Hickery Hills. It's a boring drive through michigan but totally worth it.

Between 1996-2002 I took a number of long trips around the country---two over 6,000 miles---playing every course en route. Which, of course, wasn't that many at that time. Not purely disc golf treks, but disc golf was a major component.

Do tournaments count? Almost everyone who's played Worlds has traveled a long way to do so. On the other hand....a couple of times I drove 8 hours to play the Cross Canyon in Brooksville. Ostensibly to play a tournament.....but truth be told, I was driving that far to play a particular course, conveniently at a time when they were holding a tournament.

I flew from Des Moines to San Antonio for the express purpose of playing for two days at Circle R in Wimberley. Arrived at midnight on Friday and flew back out at 7:00am on Monday.
