PDGA ratings are up. How'd you do?

I track mine on a separate spreadsheet and it usually lines up with PDGA. This time it's off for some reason. The average of each of my last 6 tournaments was above my rating, yet my rating went down...baffled.

My rating went down from 951 to 948? All rounds were included in the 951 calculation.

I played my first tourney since 2007 this year and totally choked with 885 and 863 rounds. Somehow that dropped me from a 904 rating to an 861!

Don't really understand, the numbers don't make sense at all. My ratings detail shows ten rated rounds, mostly 930ish ratings with only two sub-900 rounds. And somehow I have an 861 rating.

Your 861 rating doesn't make sense, but your history isn't entirely accurate now. I know the history pages didn't update yet for anyone.

PDGA uses all the rounds within 12 months of your last rated round to calculate your rating. I know in some cases they can up to 24 months back if there aren't enough rounds. By playing your first tournament since 2007 you essentially erased all your earlier rounds and they're no longer counted towards your current rating.

That being said, your rating should technically only use your most recent event which averages out to higher than 861...

I thought they would go as far back as possible to get 8 rounds. If that's the case, my 2007 BG Ams should fall off and I should have an 890 rating. If it's only the last 24 months, then I think only my tourney from this year counts and I'd be 874. Weird.

Maybe I should start playing Rec again and build up some plastic!

They do try to get 8 rounds, but they won't go more than 24 months back to look for them.

Looks none of my April tournaments mad the cut. Wish TDs were held a bit more accountable about turning that stuff in directly after the event...

What happened on April 25th? That is an impressive scoring swing.

I think there was a thread here once for largest spreads between rounds. My biggest was 2011 Cold Turkey shot 834 first round 1008 second round. I've heard of larger swings from other users here. Sometimes things just don't go your way.

Speaking of swings... I just looked for my biggest meltdown and realized march was missing from my spreadsheet. Given that and the fact that the most recent May round probably isn't in PDGAs calculation... All is good now. 948 checks out.

As for the swings, sometimes I'm on point; sometimes I'm not. Having only played for 14 months, I attribute my inconsistency to inexperience. I'm learning a lot, strengthening my mental game and making less rookie mistakes... so my scores are getting much better/consistent.

928 to 957. Replaced an 890 average from BG ams last year with a 945 average this year. Standard deviation is really low so I managed to get two sub 880 rounds excluded as well.

It would be interesting if PDGA showed everyone's standard deviation as an indicator of their consistency. Mine is huge right now +/-39.1

Curious about the biggest swings in ratings...

Personally:
Biggest Meltdown: 95 points between rounds
Biggest Comeback: 116 points between rounds

So it sounds like update hasn't fully gone through yet? My rating changed from 957 to 958 but nothing on my detail has changed. Still shows last years GBO and all of that.

Yeah it would seem the update wasn't complete or had an issue. The post on PDGA.com about ratings being fully updated is gone and my player profile won't load(as well as some other pages). A noticed a lot of the Texas players in my area had events/ratings that didn't update officially.

My current rating changed and the rounds used went from 8 to 9 . . . the only way that is possible is if the two tourneys I played in April were included (and two old ones dropped because the new ones were a total of 5 rounds where the old ones were only 4 rounds) in the update even thought they are not showing up int he ratings details. I imagine the match was computed already but they still need to transfer over some tourneys.
