aww shucks 'rube you got me all excited. there is one in ellicott city near b.more but the selection is very limited.

There is he bike shop near Hot shots that sells discs, but they are not used. Maryland kind of sucks to buy discs. I have not been to the Calvert Aviation museum to see their selection, but my expectations are low.

I posted on this thread, the main page says I was the last poster, but my post is not here....weird

First time trip to PIAS didn't yield anything special, but I picked up a lightly used champ leopard, champ firebird, and a crazy light dx shark for the girlfriend. Overall thier new section is impressive: innova, discraft, discmania, gateway....with some nice x-outs!!

Pro Line Spider

176 Pro line spider. Pretty. I threw it into the field a couple times. Flies beautifully (and my cold hands from the motorcycle ride home gripped very nicely)

Its up for trade/sale: <<Here>>

After seeing this thread I went to PIAS today and was amazed at their selection of different brands. Bought a few discs to try out:

and

SSS Wizard and the orange one is an Surge ESP

I hit up one of the PIAS in Louisville, KY today an got the following deals:

$4 Used DX Eagle - see my "Different Eagles" thread
$7.50 Elite X Soft Challenger - All Discraft on sale 25% off
$4 New JLS X-Out - All Millenium X-outs on sale for $4.

What can I expect out of the JLS? T-bird? Leopard? Other?

I finally went to PIAS in Chicago last night after reading this thread a few times. They had about 12-15 total in a rack with used baseballs.

Star--$19.99
Champ--$14.99
ESP--$14.99

There was also an Innova factory 2nd gator for $7.99 and a discraft cyclone for the same price. I was not impressed with their selection or the price tags, so I did not buy anything.

I got what I expected, which was a garage sale type selection and retail prices. However, I will certainly stop at PIAS in the future if I see one along the way. PIAS is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get. ;)

There is no disc golf scene in Chicago.

The nearest course is like 20 miles from the city.

Not true. There are several clubs including Discontinuum, Fox Valley Metro, Streamwood Disc Golfers Union, and the J Town Crew that run tournaments and other events.

There is 1 disc golf course in the city of Chicago. Here is the link: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2446

The other city course is a fly-18 at a public stick golf course. http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1226

Although the courses around the city might not be great, we have a ton of 'em. There are a few gems like Community Park http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=302

Shady Oaks is now better than it's current rating b/c of recent course improvements including signs and concrete pads. http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=819&mode=ci

they now have a disc golf card where I live if you buy ten you get 1 free. I will buy the x-outs and get a normal over pirced disc for freee~!!!!

Man, I got some bunk info last time I was out there.

Well, the next time you are in the Greater Chicagoland area I'd be happy to show you around. Our local DGCR meetup group is also very active. Since this past summer, it has grown into an almost weekly gathering that includes courses in IN, WI, & MI in addition to the more local options.

FWIW, Lemon Lake, site of 2010 Worlds is also considered to be a "local option" for those that live in the south suburbs.

Here's the link to our meet up thread. Join us anytime! http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19625

I traded in a pro tye dye wraith for 6 bucks store credit and i went back a couple weeks later and they have it priced for 17.99, these guys are clueless

Joliet is close but still a drive from chicago

Joliet is certainly considered to be within the "greater Chicagoland area" for all practical purposes in regards to disc golf and local courses.

It's a lot easier than saying, "I live in Joliet." How many people NOT from the Chicago area have heard of Joliet?

Probably not clueless. They most likely look at ebay prices for similar discs. If it has any kind of dye/artwork, automatically bump up the price a few bucks.

Some sucker or noob will pay that price sooner or later.
