Ebay PSA's...

I feel a little bad posting this stuff because one of these days it's going to be a fellow dgr-er... anyway "I pride myself on being an honest seller here on Ebay. I treat my Buyers as I would want someone to treat me" ... meanwhile he charges $11 for shipping.

$11 for shipping you'd think at least it'd go priority mail, but it's parcel post, which I believe is the lowest and slowest shipping class.

I've seen people do this before. He just jacked up his price on shipping, while lowering the cost of the item substantially to get around the Ebay fees. $16 shipped isn't bad for a 175 gm Proto stamped Katana.

That's a good point... i hadn't really thought of that.

That doesn't look like a roc. I hate it when people on eBay do that.

Keyword spamming bothers me far more than overcharging for shipping. The shipping price is stated up front and you know exactly what you are paying for (or overpaying for). Keyword spamming on the other hand is just obnoxious. If I'm looking to buy a Roc I shouldn't have to add "-Katana" to my search to keep from returning results I'm not interested in. (Obviously if multiple items are in a lot this doesn't apply.)

If it truly bothers you that much it's quite easy to alert eBay to the infraction and they will remove the auction listing. I generally don't do it, but if I know the seller and they always do it or if I get their auction when I search for something else I will say something and have it removed.

Have you noticed how Sandypoint's auctions have been going for outrageous prices lately? One of my buddies and I were talking about this, and then he pointed out there is one person who has been bidding on lots of his stuff. Realize I am not making accusations here, only pointing out facts. It just seems kind of odd. Check this out:

You are looking at the one appearing as "i***t" with 51 positive feedback (though this could go up after I post).
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=350316182993

This guys bid history (linked from the 11x Blueberry Firebird SP auction, so the % are relating to SP):

If you do the math (117 items bid on x 35%) this person has bid on 41 Sandypoint auctions in the last 30 days, most of which are in the last few weeks. He has won very few of them, and most have gone way higher than the median price for said item.

That is really interesting. I trust Mike from Sandypoint but the data is hard to ignore. When I have dealings with him I typicaly try to do it outside of eBay so I can negotiate prices. He's pretty fair to me typically. I actually find Mark from discgolfvalues to be a little more outrageous in his prices on some of his "collector" plastic...

that is true, looks weird. I have bought many things from sandypoint before, most at fair pricing, I wonder what is going on here

I have bought stuff from Sandypoint as well. Most of their auctions are selling at reasonable prices, however, when they get high lately they seem to go WAY up there.

Of course, I have had the same thing happen when I am selling. A few people get overzealous and drive the prices of things way up just to try to get combined shipping. 41 bids is a lot though, especially for just one person over the course of a month.

no conspiracy theory called for, it's all legit. that 51 positive feedback bidder has also bought a decent amount of plastic off of me. i think he's just a plastic whore like the rest of us...

that's how ebay goes :?

hundred bucks for an 11x fb, guy either won the lottery or makes serious jack. even if you made a lot of money why spend 4 times the market value.. who knows. i need to try to pm this bidder and sell him some stuff :D

if you are out there mysterious bidder, PM me, ill send you pic of my whole collection :D
