What are the secret shots in your bag?

I mainly forehand, but my secret shot is with my Star RoadRunner and where it S curves, then just goes left! who says you need to backhand?!!? PASHAW!

I've only tried this shot a few times, and would never do it competitively, but a pro at my local course taught me this one.

We have one hole that's a tight, low-ceiling gap from the tee, then turns 90 degrees left after ~75 feet. The obvious thing to do is throw a drone/hornet/buzz/zone to hook around the corner for your 2nd shot. However, this pro showed me his technique on this hole. He holds the disc just like a grenade, but throws it with anny into the ground ~40 feet in front of him. The disc will come out of the anny quickly and start to hyzer just as it hits the ground. This results in a mega-sweet-looking skip that jumps 10 feet into the air and travels 40 feet left (RHBH).

If he hits his line as planned, he'll always be sitting better than everybody who threw a simply hyzer shot.

What type of discs can you use for this shot?

greg id assume something on the overstable side of the spectrum...remember i threw almost that exact shot on 23.B [tyler, pa] the other day on my 2nd shot? i was in the brush left up and around the curve after a decent drive, and skipped it down towards the basket where i lost that JOKERi

Lol @ Skunk, I am pretty sure I have seen you throw that shot on hole 8 at Oakbrook to get out of the trees left of the basket.

That treegot uprooted this past summer...makes it easier. But no, I've actually used it on hole 4 there when my drive skips the the other side of that pine tree.

Ahhhh....the lightbulb went on although it's a little dim.....I thought you tried to throw a scooby on that shot....I want to try that shot on 13 when the basket is in A. Can you picture throwing that shot and having it flip and then skip left towards that basket....possible ace run!!

I have fairly accurate forehand roller approaches with my beat Roc, I really only use them to get out of the woods. I almost never see anyone else throw them. also my tomahawks are very accurate and good for getting over stuff and out of the woods, thanks Ultimate!

The Sneaky Portuguese Hyzer is undoubtedly the greatest trick shot ever. After learning about it here awhile back, I've used it twice on separate occasions, both on Hole 7 at Jellystone. Both times, parked for a drop-in birdie. I've been afraid to use it ever since...wielding that kind of sorcery could only lead to absolute corruption of power. (plus, I hate the thought of screwing up its 100% track record.)

When your disc is about to hyzer into a tree, you scream at your disc in Portuguese (PERCA A ARVORE MALDITA), and it will miss the tree. Since the hole I referred to is completely tree-filled, I yelled it out right after the release and it successfully missed everything.

I love to take a leopard and throw it RHBH high over an obstacle and have it turnover but then stall and fall straight down where I was aiming. It's like the height cancels out the turn. I never knew what it was called and never see anyone else doing it but once when I did it somone said "nice elevator shot". It also works with a fuse or putter but you have to crank on it or you will just throw a big stall hyzer.

i just added the overhand roller with the zone. holding the zone vertical with a forehand grip, throw it on an arc that'll land 100' away (or w/e you want). if you get enough snap on it, it'll roll a long ways after it lands. you can go over obstacles, or just vertical through thick woods. it's basically a tomahawk that doesn't pan, and rolls on a smooth straight line after it lands.

probably posted already, but this is my version

Yeah, I discovered this on accident. Thought it was going to barrel roll like a tomahawk, but it just kept flying on that vertical axis, hit the ground, and rolled rolled rolled. Took a bogey, but learned a valuable shot. Zone is the only disc I can do that with.

^ have you tried it with other discs of different speed? Do you think other overstable putters would work like this too, or is the zone more mid like?

I want to take my vp outside right now and give it a whirl.

How much snap are you looking for? How high in the air?

A few have mentioned it, but the tomahawk that doesnt turn is my "trick" shot. I've actually never really been able to throw a true tommy. Since I started, every time I tried to throw one, it just stays vertical. It's a great escape shot for the wooded courses here. I don't know if it's a release point thing or spin/snap or what. I actually have to exaggerate the turn to throw a normal tomahawk, kinda like a screwball in baseball.

Also trying to master the skip hyzer. Some holes here really require it.

I have to say I cannot think of any holes in Charlotte that "require" a skip shot. I can't even think of any holes where I feel that a skip shot is even the "best" shot for the hole.

i haven't tried it with anything else. but i have a glow firebird on it's way that i fully intend to try it on. i'll let you know

i put more snap on the more more i want it to roll. and i was throwing them as high as i could and still expect it to arc and land decent... hard to guess, 30 feet up?
