[Discraft] 2012 Discraft Ace Race Disc

I did not talk too much. I said everything that Discraft wanted me to say because they wanted all first weekend TDs to create a video and they were specific about what we should cover.

lol well no technically you didn't talk too much, but I was expecting more footage of people playing. NO BIGGIE! I am sorry! I know you worked hard! lol.

Prototype next to a QJLS; no statement here, just what I had on hand.

Not the most comfortable grip. Fingers too scrunched for a driver, not enough of a beefy rim to feel like a mid in the hand.

Which is which in the first picture? Also I would recommend not power gripping this disc or really and narrow rimmed disc for that matter.

I threw the disc finally. Very weird I like it thats all i can really say. bet the stability will be a 0.0. Blue is the most firm girppy color orange seems to be the softest.

Its possible. I dont think it will for me its a mix of a comet, stalker, buzzz which i already throw and dont want to remove. It seem that you can put a good bit of air under the disc which i like however it has even less turn than a comet. Flys nice and stright. Eveyone at the ace race was calling it discraft leapord.

I do not like the Comet but I love the Buzzz. I'm trying to find a replacement for my Stalker because I never throw it.. I have a River and Teebird(2) in my bag.. Does the disc have a chance?? Either way I'm still going because it's a blast but I'm just curious. I am also wondering because my dad doesn't have a Fairway Driver and he lost his only Mid.. I wanna know if I should have him get a disc now or wait for this one because he doesn't like having many discs.

So what would be the best distances to use for this years ace race disc?
Most of the ace race layout we're gonna use have them approx 150-225 feet. I'd like as many aces as we can get but don't want to make it too easy. Is 200' good for this disc?

Played in my 1st Ace Race this weekend, holes ranged from 50 feet up to 200 feet. It almost seemed like the short holes were harder, as trying to finesse a fairway driver was quite challenging. I would think the 100-150 foot range would be ideal. Seems with enough speed/power you could get in a line for bit, before it faded hard left at the end. But just my $.02.

To me this years ace race was to hard it was like putting with a driver. I think longer hole would have been better to play it was still fun tho.

Proto is left, Sparkle QJLS is right.

That is how I would grip my TeeBird, especially if I was holding it upside down so it can be photographed.

This is the very thing we discussed after our tournament. Anything under 140 was incredibly difficult to hit, especially since we were already forcing people to shape lines and shoot through or under holes in the fairway. I do not know if there is an ideal range because the further out you go, the less likely can hit aces, yet the further out you go, the more you can throw how this disc is supposed to be thrown. I would say the ideal hole for anyone who KNOWS how to throw a disc is 180-210 feet. You can go less if it is a wide open shot.

What discs would you guys recommend practicing with? An Xl? Stalker? For short range shots with fairway drivers I would either just use a hyzer shot or more of an anhyzer loft and let it fade back. Trying to power straight lines doesnt seem to work very well.

Oh and can someone confirm that there are more than one design for the minis? I would like to see a pic of them.

The one thing I am noticing with all these videos is how many close calls people are having. We did not have that many aces and metals at our event, but if you could put close calls on your scorecard, I would have had at least 18 of those. I think that speaks to how controllable these discs are despite throwing drivers at such close ranges most of us would not be throwing a driver on.
