No one is pressuring you into smoking weed so relax. And if people offer you some and you say no and they look at you funny then who gives a crap. Honestly i'd way rather have kids on the course popping into trees to smoke weed real quick rather than all the douche bags who leave all their cigarette butts on the course and break glass bottles everywhere. I've never seen someone smoking weed who's made a mess of the course because they were smoking.

I think smoking before you get to the course is the ideal scenario, if at all. But I must say that it doesn't bother me at all. If I had to chose one, I would rather have a course full of stoned golfers over drunk ones. You have to worry about the drunk one being loud and obnoxious, peeing within sight of other park goers, littering(pot smokers save their roaches) and of course being aggressive(throwing discs at you and saying get off our course). Who knows drunk golfer might have a gun in his bag or car so don't return verbal fire with drunk golfer. The last thing stoned golfer is, is aggressive. He might drop a few twinkie wrappers and he might lose or forget where his disc is though. In my opinion it's prob better to tough it out and do whatever you do before you get there.;)

Mr. Rude. I can tune out chatterboxes and know-it-alls for the most part, but there's one guy in particular around here who is a world class annoyance. He's been on my card twice, and by the end of the second episode I was close to either walking off the course or hitting him.

Nonstop trash talk, yelling, throwing practice shots, questionable score reporting, and the list goes on. If I have the displeasure of his company again, I'm calling him on every violation I see and watching his score like a hawk. Thank God he's not a league player.

There are people like that everywhere. We have a guy like that I have played with a few times. He even got in my face once and acted like he wanted to fight. I just backed off. I play disc golf for fun, and when it quits being fun, I am going to go back to playing Tennis. I still have my racket and all my gear.

Are there a lot of bikers who play tennis? I thought you needed pleated khaki shorts and a brightly colored sweater tied around your neck to play tennis.

I have been playing Tennis for almost 15 years. Bikers do all kinds of stuff. I wouldn't wear my leathers to play though.

I'll admit I too laughed a little when you said you'd go back to tennis. I know not to judge a book by its' cover, but you just shocked me. I was going to photoshop your profile pic so that you were in an 80s tennis outfit complete with head and wrist bands, ala John McEnroe but don't know you well enough to do so (I guess that's why it shocked me).
Tennis is a great sport. Too rough on my knees, though. Playing soccer for half my life killed them.

Mr. Disc Golf- has the ability to teach you something....... he sounds pompass sometimes but if you sift thru the sand you can find gold.........

Mr. pre-putt- not really that annoying.... can be humorouse at times.....it's good to run thru your form just don't take forever.......

Mr. Weed- depending on which way you go on this issue could be a great guy to go chunk a round with......sometimes does have the tendacy to get a little excessive........

Mr. Meltdown- usually is having a meltdown because your winning which is good.........can be funny especially if Mr. weed is playing.......it all depends on the level of the meltdown

Mr.Chatterbox- can really be annoying when it's your turn......usually not a boring round cause he'll talk to annybody......helps you learn to focus by tuning him out.....

Mr. Rude- this is the one that get's my vote...... I can overlook alot mainly because I know I am not perfect.......but there is no need to be rude.....IMO.......

I would disagree with a few things in here. First off, it might be your experience that smokers are all considerate discers, but that is not the case by me. They all take way too long to get going, never let people play through, and generally lower peoples opinion of the course.(nothing against smokers in general, but you have to admit that a lot of people are turned off by the sight of smokers on the course, drinkers too)

Secondly, where are you getting that because someone drinks on a course, they will have a gun in their bag? Is this a personal experience? Because I am pretty sure that drinkers are no more or less likely to be packing heat.

Other than that, I agree, but both are equally bad I would say, I dont want to see either person on the course, if I can help it

this wouldn't happen to be me would it? ha.

i have a little bit of all of them in me when i play. im normally pretty quiet and keep to myself, but if i been drinkin all day i may get a little roudy. but unless i had a bad week im usually a happy drunk and dont get all pissy. my least favs are mr rude and mr meltdown.

I think mr rude because any of the above can happen and its tolerable if they are a nice person but being a jackass is not fun for anyone. I've run into a few and its turned my friends off from the game. its all about fun, being outside and having a few ace runs.

also guys who write here should classify themselves, I would be prt mr. weed, beer, fun and disc golf only when people ask for my advice or help

I didn't say smokers are considerate. And I said drunk golfer might have a gun. I should have said that people carry guns so don't return verbal fire with anyone that is high on anything. But you are right neither SHOULD be seen on the course. but lets not argue when we really agree:eek: If you must get catch a buzz on anything, do it before you get to the course. If you are playing a round with a group that all partake then get or pay someone to be your personal taxi service. Or just sit in your car with the windows rolled up as far away from people as possible and slam or burn a few and then immediately start hole one. By the time your finished with your round you are probably sober, especially if it's hot or a long course. You are right about stoned golfer holding you up because he can't remember where his disc landed a minute ago:confused: I think both will prob be around forever like poison ivy in the woods. But because of the growing popularity of dg, a smaller percentage are doing this. You have more family groups. Father son, Mother daughter, sisters, brothers and complete family group. So if that keeps happening they might one day feel uncomfortable, especially when people are staring at them like maybe an angry dad.... :eek:or worse an angry mother

mr disc golf for me.

i don't smoke myself but i can't see why anyone would vote against the potheads... this sport kinda goes hand in hand with them I have noticed.

wow i am leaving the thread after reading those two replies crying about people drinking and smoking on the course.

if you are worried about that kind of stuff you should be AT THE BALL GOLF COURSE.

I hate the getting stuck behind the group of 6 high school kids that each have only 1 disc that cant throw more than 20 feet in front of them, and when they arent throwing they are on their damn cell phone!!!

6? I normally see them in 8-10 and those are the most likely to yoink your disc when it lands by them at the next tee. (pretty sure this just happened to me last night)

Let me also say this. The reason I am against weed, is because the way I get treated by other players when I don't join them for a smoke. Several times and in two tournaments, I have been asked if I want to smoke, and when I have said, "No thank you", I was treated like the odd man out, and was really treated like a narc or something.

If you want to engage in an illegal activity, fine, be my guest. But don't treat me like crap just because I choose not too. I don't play disc golf to drink beer or get high. I do it for the love of the game. Disc Golf is my drug. I could care less what anyone else does, but don't treat me bad if I choose not to.

I have had this happen several times, and I am damn sick of it!

First off the necessity to smoke weed everytime I play disc golf is not there. It is something that I personally enjoy and I really don't care if others want to or not. Whoever is giving you crap for not wanting to participate should keep their mouth shut. ALthough I have never witnessed this, especially since most of the people that have offered it to me have been very laid back and genuine people. Second, you keep saying how you are not judging people but every post I read from you on the subject you are making some form of criticism. "illegal" avtivities, mind altering, disc golf is my drug...blah blah blah. The point is.....just because you see someone smoking pot, it does not meen they are any less passionate about the game then you.

It's not dumb. As I stated before, you put people at risk when you do that stuff, because most courses are in PUBLIC parks. Parks have been yanked out of the ground because of pot smokers, that is a fact. But hey, it's a stupid statement, brah, because it like never hurt anybody!! Just relax, man...

dude, try and get laid sounds like you need it
