[Innova] Innova Mako

Got to throw mine a couple days ago. Flys kinda like a putter, but with quite a bit more glide. I liked it. I was money on most of my approach shots inside 150'. Need to work with it a little more for longer shots because it did get a little squirrely on me when i threw it hard, but I believe that was more of a technique issue on my part as I have never really relied on a true "mid-range disc" before. Up until this point I was using a Leopard for my "mid".

The Mako is a good flying disc. Initially I made fun of it for feeling like a slug in my hand... kinda clunky. But, the thing holds it's angle of release and flies just a little bit further than my putters. I'm going to keep using it for now and see how long it hangs out in my bag.

The feel of this disc is why I like it. I have large hands and hate the way most midrange disc feel in your hands. They are harder to get a good grip. The only midrange disc I use are the Buzz and the Roc. I love the way the Roc flies, but hate the way it feels. I am always looking for new midrange discs that feel more like drivers. No such luck.

Man, I hear you! I agree. The Mako fills large hands nicely. And I struggle with the Roc for that reason, as well. As far as that goes, have you tried a Wasp? Easier for me to grip as the rim is slightly bigger, same basic flight as a Roc.

I got a mako today and definitely did not love it. it felt a lot like a coyote (even had the CY on the bottom) and would flip on any shot over 200 ft or so. it was a decent putter though.

I wasn't flipping my Mako on anything yesteray. It did exactly what it was supposed to. Dead straight. Haven't really tried to bomb it yet though. It's definitely a good disc. Compliments my bag nicely

I played the first game with my mako yesterday, and it was money for me! If you need to throw with max power, switch to a more stable disc. But for 200' approach shots it was awsome. Better than my buzz even. Super staight with a great release. It has definitely found a place in my bag. Got my best score on a tough course I play at in Dallas (Lester Lorch).

So I got the Mako and the Pro Boss last week. I've played 2 rounds with only those 2 disks. Pro Boss is great, but I don't have the arm to keep it in my bag. I was getting great distance with it when thrown full on, but not much further than I get with Wraiths. I still have form problems. It does glide better than other bosses I've thrown.

The Mako: It works as advertised, but I don't know if It will stay in my bag for long. I can get it to flip over, but I have to throw it over speed to make that happen. It has a very similar flight path to a buzz (or coyote thrown slower than needed to flip). I like the feel of the rim which is very similar to a coyote. Handed both discs, I would be hard-pressed to differentiate them.

Get a star or champ Cro. They are good alternatives to the Roc

You sure it's actually a Mako then?...Mine has *MK on the bottom. Have you compared the edge to a coyote?

It holds any line you give it and dosent waver. Kinda of like the "Mid range of midranges" one midrange disc for any situation

"Kinda of like the "Mid range of midranges" one midrange disc for any situation "... unless there's a headwind or crosswind. or unless you need a hyzer finish.

sounds more like a specialty disc that will fill a niche for some people, rather than a do-it-all midrange. roc or buzzz would probably fill that spot in most people's bags.

It reminded me very much of a Star Coyote.

Feels like a coyote and flies similarly, but is more stable than a coyote.

Seems alot like the Coyote, maybe even more understable.

I've heard a few people who got their Mako with CY written on the bottom of the disc if that tells you anything.

Some had *MK and some had CY and I think one even had just Y

So it seems that the Mako *IS* the Coyote. I've got one here with the standard Star stamp, and on the back, M is even sharpied over CY.

The Coyote and Mako are different molds. The Coyote comes from the Rancho mold and the Mako comes from the San Marino mold. The Coyote is a little more high speed stable, and a little more low speed over stable. The Coyote is better in the wind and the Mako is better in the woods. The Mako has a straighter finish than the Coyote. Plastic and different runs can make a difference, but all of the above will hold true on average.

If the engraving on your Mako says San Marino, it is a Mako and it was a marking error.
