2018 Las Vegas Challenge PDGA NT

I think your original comments came across less generic than you're stating here, but either way, thanks for clarifying.
I do respect what you're saying, and I understand your push to support these crews. But you're right, not everyone is going to prioritize it the same way.

I am not actually sure there's a commentator problem though, per se. I'd be surprised if Jomez was losing a significant number of viewers because of the commentary, even those being openly critical. As such, it seems a tad defensive position.

Don't Sexton and Jerm have Patreon accounts also, for commentary? You didn't link those.... what am I to infer from that? :p

Sorry, my original comments didn't come across as generic. I've made this statement several places before now, on these and FB forums/posts, including in in the linked interview. So they were definitely intended as "in general" and directed to anyone who "wants/expects something for nothing."

As far as the patreons for Big & for Sexy, they do definitely have dg commentary patreon accounts. You can infer from my not linking those (from my personal perspective), that I'll begin plugging for the employees of dg content producers once I feel the producers have gotten their just due. :)

My wife makes me watch The Voice, so occasionally I get to put on some dg coverage on the big TV. I don't know how this relates to the topic. I just wanted to say that I need disc golf coverage to balance out the utter crap that is The Voice.

Makes you?
Get up and do something else. There's no reason to sit and watch The Voice.

If my wife tried to make me watch The Voice, I would make her watch baseball. Problem solved.

I have a perspective on videos & coverage ... that I shared on another thread.

I think the producers should ignore the negative comments (or even constructive comments) of anyone not helping (with $) to get the coverage produced. I am 100% happy with the work of Jomez, CCDG, Smashboxxtv, the Disc Golf Guy & Smashcutzz, etc. They do a great job -- ESPECIALLY given they primarily do it for a consumer base that the majority wants something for nothing.

Here I'll help everyone out:

I will also say that the Jomez and CCDG boys make money off ads, which only have value if people watch the videos. Yeah, it doesn't fully help cover the bills, and kicking more money into the pot is great, BUT for them to even make some money or for it to be worth it to Innova or Dynamic or MVP or whoever to pay them to go film a tournament, people first and foremost have to watch for that money to have actually accomplished anything.

So what I'm trying to say is, your whole basic premise of people who don't pay into the Patreon not really being part of what helps financially support these guys simply is not actually true. Any John Q Smith or Jane Q Doe who watches the videos helps support these channels because those added views increase the value of the advertising spots they sell, which allows them to make more money (and actually will reduce and ultimately eliminate the need for Patreon if the ad slots become valuable enough).

I couldn't be happier with the Jomez production, including the commentary, for the Las Vegas Challenge. The quality, right down the the great cover shots for each video, is fantastic. Think about how quickly these came out for both MPO and FPO. Obviously a huge effort and it is greatly appreciated.
I concur. I really enjoy Jerm and Sexton, they're complementary. I would enjoy other commentators from time to time just for change of pace but I'm entirely grateful for Jerm and Nate for getting mic'd up. Fajkus and Walker were very solid as well. There's nothing I'd change really. I don't think Fajkus' voice is really great for audio but nothing she should feel bad about, she does great.
Reasons Ian is awesome
  1. "Let's watch some disc golf"
  2. Knows all the discs
  3. Knows all the players
  4. genuinely hyped to see great shots
  5. sincere empathy when shots go bad
  6. cracks up all the time
  7. fast turn around on big events
  8. sends out footage all year
  9. pulled together bunch of good folk to help
  10. naturally high
Lol, this reminded me of something I get a chuckle out of during CCDG vids. Ian will get super excited about a shot occasionally and you can tell the player co-commentator's tone of voice is like "Yeah, it was a fairly routine shot, settled down there chief."

Dang... Why take it so personal??? I see all the time people posting, "hey it's a forum wherein people get to voice their opinions."
.....Can't I voice mine??? I NEVER made any statement about what you (specifically) NOR anyone else donated/supported/contributed etc. I DID NOT assume you nor did I assume anyone else was not contributing. My comments were stated from the generic perspective. I just think it is very unreasonable (in general) to expect something for nothing. If people are just voicing their opinions on this forum without expectation, then, great -- no harm, no foul. Bobby CDSB made a statement at the end of our interview that I wholly agreed with. And like Broken Shoulder above said, "no big deal, I'll just change my entertainment options"; meaning having disc golf coverage isn't that big a thing for him. I have no problem with that position.

sure you can voice your opinion, but you specifically quoted me, complete with red text to show which parts of my criticism you thought were just negative comments. and then said "I think the producers should ignore the negative comments (or even constructive comments) of anyone not helping (with $) to get the coverage produced."

I was watching all of the Jomez videos. Did anybody else find FPO far more entertaining than MPO? It was two rounds of crappy windy golf for the guys, then just a bunch throwing big high hyzers that fly over everything and fall in. That bores the crap out of me. The ladies had to actually find some lines and run them.

I'm telling my wife about this. In my house I watch the youtube from the living room chair while the voice is on. I think I should be able to put disc golf on the TV every once in a while. It's not just the Voice. She literally records every singing/dancing competition show out there. I hate it.

^^^ Same. The Voice was just the example that came to mind.

We don't have a den or office in our house. Anyways, I'd never use them because I like to hang out with the whole family in our living room. So I don't actively watch it. It's just on while me and my boy play with blocks, cars, etc.

As for how the holes performed, Innova #9 did best: it increased the information content of the total scores by 5.7% over the information provided by all the other holes.

The worst was Disc Golf Values #6 which destroyed 4% of the information generated by all the other holes.

Here's how it looks. Perfect information would be like a string of identical pearls.

Who likes hanging out with their family?
Weirdo.

I'm kidding. And I also don't care what you watch. Or who with. Or if you're forced to.

We are so off the subject of the OP, that if you would like further discussion I'll move it to a new thread -- HERE. Otherwise, I'll no longer talk about it on this thread.
