Course Baggers

I have a goal of playing 100% of courses in a state and RI is my main target! Pretty sure it can be done in a day b/c last time I checked there are only 4 courses.

I had this same idea hahaha. Sounds like that's an awfully long day now though...better go mid summer!

On my recent trip to New England, I was able to play the Willow Valley course in Rhode Island. That marked the achievement of a long-time goal: I have now played at least one course in each of the 50 United States.

I thought I should post about that here, since this crowd might include some people who think that's a good thing instead of just calling me crazy. :)

That's so amazing!!! *adds to bucket list*

Thanks. I've been limited to playing in Casper, Cheyenne, and Laramie.

There was a course that I stopped to look at in Pine Bluffs near the Nebraska border that looked promising (The Canyon?) but no time to play it.

The Canyon is the only course that I've played in Wyoming better than a 3.5. The Canyon is a very fun course on very tough terrain. I haven't played Grand Targhee Resort but that one might be good as well. Hard to tell since it hasn't had a review on here in more than 8 years.

grand targhee is overrated. very similar to jackson hole resort, which sillybiz just gave a 3 (hopefully he is going to review grand targhee also). it irks me that neither have a ride chairlift/gondola up & throw down course (which is what i want in a ski hill course :insert take my money pic: ).

Rhode Island has six courses on DGCR now, five 18's and a niner. Eight courses on that "other" site.

So the longer you wait . . .

Good luck!

Things are definitely getting tougher. I was able to claim 100% in RI 9 years ago after playing Ninigret. At the time it was the only RI course listed here and I don't think the other site/app was even a glimmer in its developer's eye.

Lately I've been making a point the highest rated courses in a given state that I'll be in.

Brothers from separate mothers...

My trip next week will have me (I hope) bagging the highest rated courses in PA, NJ, DE, NY, CT, RI, and MA (which surprisingly enough is NOT Maple Hill). IF my body and time allows, will add ME and NH to the list, they're not as far from where we will be (Maple Hill, 4 rounds on 4 layouts) as I thought. Picking out my least favorite/found discs tomorrow that I will be donating to the Maple Hill ponds when I play from golds/blues. I don't want to bail out, but will limit my losses to one per hole. :)

Based in NJ here, and I bag neighboring states. Will be interested in hearing about your travels.

Dang, seeing this all in print now has me worried.

I have paired Maple Hill with 501 my first trip out there and Pyramids the second. Maple to me is so amazing, one of the best courses. Ended up playing 2 rounds there each trip. Donated a disc on hole one's pond and hole 8. One of my favorite memories out there was parking hole 14 from the 270ish tee pad (can't remember if it was white or blue). Looks like a great trip!

Solid list.

Regarding CT. I will play Wickham on Friday, and I'm skeptical that it will live up to the hype. Norbrook is defiinitely on my list to get to though. Unless I'm blown away by Wickham, I would advise you to consider Rockwell in its place.

Of the ~350 courses I've played, I've only rated 6 of them 5.0, and Rockwell is the only one of those that has only one set of baskets and tees. It's that good. And you've got Page Park nearby, which is highly-rated, but a bit of a letdown if you play it after Rockwell.

I hope you love Brakewell. If I had to play 30 days in a row, but could only play one course, that would be my choice. If you have time, play rounds on both sets of baskets.

Stafford is terrific - sort of a smaller Iron Hill, but with water. And a couple of memorable greens. I actually didn't love Iron Hill as much as I thought I would (and I got down votes for it). But I played from the whites, and those tees aren't well-kept or well-signed. Sort of felt like I was in steerage.

It happens that I haven't played any of your PA choices yet. I definitely want to hit Faylor. My highest rated PA courses are Ryan Kelly Green Monster and Sankanac.

But I probably shouldn't be making any suggestions. The hardest part of a trip like this is leaving courses out!

I also loved Warwick. Camped out in Dan's (co-course designer) backyard the night before after playing The Oasis. Showed up during (and watched) the Feldberg amateur series tournament thing (NAGTG I think? This was 2018). I also loved Iron Hill. Just my style of tight lines through the woods with elevation and a rocky ground.

i get a sick pleasure from playing the worst of the worst

i would like to play the best and worst (can i search this even) of each state

its unobtainable for me but it would be fun

What did you think of Prior Lake High School? Just might be the worst course I've played in MN.

oh really

i played that one with aim for the chains back when it opened it sucked but not the worst

southern mn has some homemade basket ones that sucked (also this trend sprawls into northern iowa too which had some absolutely dreadful courses with same story)

little falls has a field with baskets randomly placed https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2027

i saw one udisc one course with one basket but "9" different tee pads to make a "9 hole course" i think it was in mn but might have been wi or iowa

and im sure 20 others i forgot haha

a course in northern iowa you crossed a road over 10 times in 18 holes it was amazing really https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=959

I'm going back to the fort this weekend with a quick stop in at Infinite Discs. Will be my third time playing the long course there. Hey if anyone is around that area on Saturday you're more than willing to join us. Ogden's a nice area.

That is an ambitious itinerary, but those are some wonderful courses.

Depending on how many days you plan to spend on the road, one of the challenges you might have is getting early starts and fighting shrinking daylight hours this time of year. As you go further east in the time zone, the sun rises and sets earlier.

Great point, thx for the reminder since I am starting off on the far Western side of EST. Not that seeing where I'm throwing usually helps all that much.

I'm the same way. Makes you appreciate the good ones a lot more. And sometimes you just need a good laugh. 😁

Speaking of the worst of the worst, why does Duck Pond Rec. Area get so much hate?? I honestly didn't think it was THAT bad. I've played a lot worse ones in WI and IL than that.

Or maybe it was reviewed…and the review got deleted.
