DGPT: 2022 WACO Charity Open Mar 11-13

Brutus knows how to start tourney threads:
links to everything.

Looks like he's been putting in OT, too, with threads for the next several DGPT events.

Audience participation is what makes DGCR great.

Is Eagle letting the wing rest for WACO? I don't see him on the list of registered players.

Someone said he was going to take a month off after Vegas to focus on getting the FH up to 100%(?) I guess a little more concentrated rehab before he feels he can unleash it?

He said during All Stars that he was skipping the Texas swing as both courses require forehand lines that he can't throw right now. He'll return to the tour with Music City once the courses allow him to throw primarily backhand.

Is this tournament still at that course with all the annoying trees? It's such a bummer, especially after The Memorial where we get to see nice full disc flights, unencumbered by pesky foliage.

There are fairways here. The course everyone complained about last year was Lindsey Park, where Texas States are held (Mar 25-27).

Lord help us if we expect professional frisbee throwers to be judged on their ability to hit a gap and to manage rough.

there aren't a lot of trees at the Memorial, but they managed to find them and the trees certainly played a part in the outcome.

There are a couple holes with a lot of pesky foilage, but its far from the most heavily wooded course on tour. I think 5-6 holes are densely wooded, about 10 are wooded, and only 2-3 are lightly wooded.

VERY REAL possibility of three distinctly different weather conditions each round.

FRI : very cold (40's with wind chill in the 30's all day), rainy, and the wrong way wind 25 mph gusting to 35. (might be snowing in DFW where I am.) The plus is it'll be tailwind across the water on the last hole.

SAT: wind subsides to single digits (still NNW), but FREEZING morning rounds, with sun coming out to warm it to upper 50's by afternoon

SUN: (Spring FORWARD time) What we normally expect for Texas in March -- sunny and mid 50's morning and mid 60's afternoon, with the south wind about 20 mph into the players face on hole 18 across the river inlet water.

definitely going to be some challenging conditions this weekend. Aggressive play will likely be costly.

That kinda sux for the people that paid for spectator passes.
We may see the first DGPT winner ever that shoots worse than -20 with these conditions.

Good gear, a pair of hand warmers and a flask in your back pocket. Disc golfers should be fine.

...says the Michigander! :D

My bet is less than half the Texans that bought tickets will show up, especially before 1pm.

I'm with you tho. I'll play in weather that I wouldn't otherwise consider going outside in, but I'm also not native to Texas and have lived all over.
Yes, cold is cold everywhere, but man, the Texas wind seems to cut through every layer I can put on.

i kinda like how they put last years winner in the caddy book so i can remember

We fantasy disc golfers already know that 2020 winner Colten Montgomery essentially followed that up in 2021 with a (fantasy) last place finish. lol

I won WACO week in my league last year. Thank you very much Cale Leiviska and Loren Lewis for your excellent contributions. Surprised to see no LL this year.
