If we get to play Online Psychiatrist, I've got oppositional defiant disorder for $500. :|

Mmmm, I'll take oppositional defiant disorder for $500 Alex, in this case as well. [emoji16][emoji41]

There are way too many possibilities. Best odds are that no one winds up right, were he to get his issues diagnosed and release them for the whims of the voices on DGCR.

It does beg the question. Not playing DG, might as well leave the DG forum.

Playing the DG forum is his game.
No plastic needed. Never has to visit a course.

Side note:

When the recent Malort craze started a few years ago, we had our private club meeting at a friend's local bar that is a big supporter of the club/course and also happened to stock Malort (one of the few places in our area at the time).

After we wrapped up, I said I was buying a round of shots for everyone (about 20ish people) and came back from the bar with a tray of shots.

They all thought it was Jameson at first until they smelled it.

It was many people's first time drinking it, but I guilted them all into it since I had paid for them and brought them over.

A different friend's bar in town did the Malort Wing Challenge.

Had to eat 6 chicken wings tossed in a Malort based sauce, timed and without a chaser.

That one was a little rough.

Several years ago, I was at a party in Chicago. Some dude I didn't know gave me a shot and said "Welcome to Chicago!". I knew something was up when everyone was staring at me, waiting for me to drink it. Yes, it was Malört. Yes, I didn't enjoy it. So naturally I had to buy a bottle before heading home. At the liquor store, the kind elderly cashier looks at me and she says "Honey, why are you buying this?" I could only laugh. Back home, I made it my mission to have as many people as possible try it. Of course I did a shot with them. Nobody wanted a second shot, but I managed to drink half a bottle. Even the old lady's dad, who likes strange flavors, didn't want a second. Never did develop a taste for it.

I'm a big fan of Nikko's play style too. I thoroughly enjoy watching rounds he's on, always have. That was pretty ridiculous what he pulled though. A suspension is in order. And deservedly so. If you've ever seen a skin's match with Nikko on it, they rip on him non stop about excessive time. Every time. Always. He's more than aware that he's known for that.

We want to stick around to witness that magical moment when someone first realizes that admitting they were wrong - and are therefore now right - is a much easier and more satisfying path than trying to feel right by getting everyone else to be wrong in the same way.

It doesn't happen often, and witnessing the sense of awareness and relief that floods over the person as a result of that revelation is a beautiful thing, so we don't want to miss it.

you have much more faith in people than I do.

So 13 holes went by without these players getting another bad time and penalizing Nikko themselves? If they didn't keep timing him, the warning is off, as far as i am concerned. Worst example of sportsmanship by the European Tour, Ever. Their unprofessionalism dwarfs Nikko's reaction. It was a clearly vindicitive penalty given the circumstances. if the PDGA gives more than two weeks, i won't be renewing or playing any more events. So kill the sport with crappy rules or keep BGC involved/ HMMMM.

"As far as i am concerned" isn't remotely a rule though. If you get a warning about something on Hole 7, that's the warning for the round, not for "a few holes" or whatever someone has made up in their mind.

On the subject of suspensions and precedent:
- Why did Bradley Williams get suspended/on probation the first time?
- Has Nikko actually ever been officially reviewed by the PDGA for discipline on courtesy issues? I know he has a reputation as fiery, etc. but has it actually come out on the course in a manner that might have warranted discipline in the past?
- Now that the heat of the moment is over, does anyone actually think he is subject to discipline for "stalking"? IMO that is a term related to searching for and finding someone after the round is over. Things like showing up at their house, continually popping up in public places where they are, that kind of thing. Not walking up to them on the hole you are playing.

Yes, this was completely unwarranted and unacceptable behavior. But, in my mind, it doesn't warrant a suspension unless he has previously engaged in behavior that would potentially warrant a suspension. But, I'm also not exactly sure what the rules say specifically about these things and whether it is all completely discretionary.

This is also where the PDGA and the DGPT to me seem like they would be slightly at cross purposes. Or, at least, they might be in the future. Like it or not, when you are doing something for a living, the stakes are raised for the competitors in the way they should not be when you are not. That generally has to be part of the equation. Of course the EO isn't a DGPT event, but you'd like to see solidarity between the pro tours in Europe and the US. And of course this is a (theoretically) Open tournament, so maybe that doesn't quite apply.

Calvin setting a 30 second timer/alarm on his phone has gotta be on the highlight reel

That's the rub, isn't it? He is a great line thrower, and seems to treat folks well when not competing in a tournament. So he has it in him. He just really needs professional assistance to squash whatever inner demons he has that still get the best of him when competing. If he could figure that, I really think he could be a fan favorite. (assuming his pace of play picks up in the process).

Class A offense carries a 24 month suspension. I'm not sure how this offense is not going fall under any other category of offense per the disciplinary committee. If he doesn't get two years then something is fishy.

With this high profile of a player I'm baffled it's taking this long to make a decision on his punishment.

Would be nice if it was a complete package. Rules kept/enforced on random cards, rules kept/enforced on videoed tournament cards, rules kept/enforced on lead cards in majors, rules from the rule book kept/enforced.

However, there seems to be extreme nonchalance/incoherence top to bottom on how/when to enforce. There are a dozen previous tournaments Nikko could have been called out for time, besides a non-sanctioned skins match and the European Open (the only two examples we have).

That's so Calvin. Loved it.

At least as they come across on video, post pro, vlogs (which is most of what any of us ever get to see of any of the touring pros)... Calvin is the most chill of anyone, with the dryest, yet possibly best sense of humor.
